This is an absolute must for the beginner. I am enjoying the basin intro and find the exerciser very helpful. The text is the basis of my intro to networking for the Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics certificate. This is a great reference with one minor error on page 195 re: Fig 5-3 and Fig 5-4. Highly recommended for the beginner. I am an emergency doctor with absolutely no networking experience so I can really vouch for this text.
