I read this book, not know what exactly to expect. I was looking for a uplifting tale of true love, something I could just curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and read. What I found was so much more. The author has a wonderful way with words. He doesnt over describe things but has a way of grabbing you and holding your attention and not letting you go until the end. After the first chapter you will feel like the book characters are actually becoming your friends. There are very tender parts in the story, some outrageously funny parts ( dealing with Ed's Mother, Norma) and some parts that will make you think of your own family. This story is told with tact and makes you believe in true love again. As I read it, I really fell in love with ed and Rick ( 2 of the books characters) Whether Gay or Straight you will love this story. I recommend The Handyman's Dream for anyone looking for a beautifully written novel about love, life and the pursuit of happiness.
