Just when you thought good rock and roll isn't made anymore. Along comes Meat Loaf with a new sound behind this career pivotal album. Truth be told, this is NOT a part of the Bat trilogy that die hard fans know and cherish. It's a brand new treasure filled with layers of mature vocals, intertwined with climactic instrumentation that weaves into a story behind the lyrics of each song. This album is a must have for all Meat Loaf fans. And this album takes time to understand, you won't see all the mystery on first listen, which is brilliantly intelligent. Highlighted songs that will draw you in are "Los Angeloser" a catchy tune which takes you by surprise (chair dancing anyone), "If I Can't Have You" will give you a rock style relationship conflict that one can easily relate to, and "Song Of Madness" verges on a fine line of harder rock with metal influence but very Meat Loaf. I highly recommend this album for anyone with a passion for great Rock and Roll. Keep an open mind because this isn't your dad's Meat Loaf!!!!!!!!!!

While his voice is no longer what it used to be, it is still better than those of the younger generation. This album has a suprising sound to it, actually very modern and almost pop-like. It is nothing like Meats normal music, but the difference is a pleasant suprise. I really like it...it's fun.

Hang Cool Teddy Bear may not be an explicit sequel to Bat Out of Hell -- not in its title or in its composition, with Meat Loaf once again parting ways with Jim Steinman, the architect of the Bat songs -- but it sure has enough bombast to trick anybody into thinking it's the fourth volume of Bat. It's not, of course: unlike those three career-defining records, Hang Cool Teddy Bear boasts an actual narrative -- a hazy, unformed tale of a wounded soldier -- instead of merely being conceptual, a difference that should give the album shape, particularly when married with Rob Cavallo's crisp, bright production. Cavallo corrects all the errors of the heavy-handed, ...
