Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Joyce Rice
Hannah West and her mom are homeless. When Hannah's mom lost her job with a computer-related firm, she and Hannah made adjustments. They rented a room to a college student, cancelled cable television, and stopped eating out. When they still could not make the rent payments, Hannah's mom decided to create a job, and she and Hannah became house sitters. Luckily, Hannah's mom knew a lot of important people who had houses they did not live in all the time, and they had been able to live in some pretty nice places. With mom's freelance writing jobs, they managed to pay their expenses. Hannah had now lived in five different places in one year and this was to be their sixth move. When Hannah and her mom move to Belltown Towers, not only do they have a luxurious apartment for four weeks but they make friends with some wonderful characters. It is these characters who lead Hannah into her newest mystery, complete with delivery boys, stolen art and secret personalities. Author Johns assures us that Hannah will be back for other tales. This is a delightful mystery for the stated age group. Advanced readers, ages 8 to 10, will also enjoy this story told in simple vocabulary with lots of adventure.
