Overview

#1 New York Times Bestseller Jamie McGuire returns to self-publishing with this page-turning YA account of Erin Easter, one of three Erins in the small senior class of rural Blackwell High School who not only share a first name, but also their birthday. Erin Easter, raised by a neglectful single mom, keeps to herself and admires Weston Gates from afar. The other Erins, Erin A. and Erin M. are the darlings of the community: daughters of the two wealthiest families in town, best friends, cheerleaders, and everything Erin Easter isn't--and they never let her forget it. Erin A. has even claimed Weston since the 8th grade.

Weston is a well-liked star athlete, and the son of two prominent attorneys. He struggles daily with the pressures of living up to his family name and secretly empathizes with Erin Easter's feeling that she belongs somewhere else; in a different life. Not until he begins sneaking nights out with Erin does he gain the courage to buck expectations and acknowledge his feelings ... both for his future, and for her.

But when a shocking tragedy rocks the tiny town, Erin's life is turned upside down in the best way possible. But when the truth is revealed and everything Erin thinks she wanted falls into her lap, life only becomes more complicated.

I really enjoyed this novella. Takes you on an emotional journey, that makes you think. Amazing how much youcan feel for Erin within a few short pages. Has characters that you will love, and those that you will hate. Very well done, yet again.

Ohemgeee!! Five ++ Stars!!! Another great read!! Read it in 2 hours! I loved how the story progressed! I hate bullies so while Erin was being bullied I wanted to climb in the book and slap Alder so bad! Highly recommended!!

I read a lot of books - I probably average about two to three a week. So when I say it is rare for me to remember specific story lines or characters, it's the absolute truth. They tend to blur together and I can remember bits and pieces or moments. This has never been the case with Jamie's books. I can remember them in detail and ALL of the characters she has written about stick with me - even years after reading the books. That is the type of author she is. It's total magic!! This book was another masterpiece. I found myself being sucked in and consumed by Erin and Weston and no matter what was happening in the outside world around me, I focused on nothing but their story. It was very relatable and made me laugh, cry, swoon, and of course when it was over, it left me begging for more! This book pulls at you and brings a lot of real life issues to the surface. I found myself thinking of my kids and how they treat people and how heartbreaking it would be if one of them was being bullied. This is not a sunshine and roses kind of story but it's REAL and that's what makes it so fantastic. Thank you for doing what you do best, Ms. McGuire. I will be waiting anxiously to consume whatever comes next from you (Beautiful Oblivion in July!). She is the very rare author that I will read ANYTHING she puts out there - she is just that good and I have never been disappointed. Being the book nerd that I am, my list of books to read just keeps getting longer - but I can assure you that when one of her books comes out, everything else goes to the wayside. If you haven't read this book - DO IT NOW!! I promise you won't regret it! 5+++ stars!

what an amazing novella!! Jamie McGuire has done it again. this is a true underdog story!! I like how alot of people can relate to what Erin goes through. Bullies are sadly apart of a lot of peoples lives so to read about  what this poor girl had to go though and you can relate makes this book that much better to read!! I cant wait for more of this amazing story!! a must read!!!

Once again Jamie McGuire delivers an amazing story! If trying to get the reader to want more of this story was her angle ? It worked! I want more! Weston is a sweetheart to Erin who needs someone in her life besides Frankie to appreciate her. This story also touches a very common issue we have in this world of people being mean to others for no other reason but to be just that MEAN! Mean people SUCK! I have to laugh bc I didn't feel remorse for what happened to the mean girls, as wrong as it sounds but I felt the same way Erin & Weston felt! I had a bit of waterworks when the big reveal of the story hit... I can't imagine something so life altering to happen to someone. Great story! Highly recommend! 5¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿

Jamie McGuire did not disappoint with this one. I loved it so much I didn't want it to end. I liked how strong the main character (Erin Easter) was. The chemistry between Weston and "Easter" was very relatable, you felt it. Jamie McGuire is so good with dialogue between characters. I hope Jamie continues with this story, I would love to see where these two go.

No surprise, Jamie has done it again.  I'm telling you, this lady couldn't write a bad book if she tried!  I am generally not a huge fan of short stories, they are just never long enough!  But I absolutely LOVED Happenstance.  Even though I felt like it was over too quickly, of course, I love knowing that there is more of this story coming!  Jamie's writing is so heart wrenching, you can't help but get emotionally involved in her stories, and tied to her characters.  I immediately fell in love with Erin and Weston and can't wait to read the next chapter of their story!  Phenomenal job once again Jamie McGuire!  I expected nothing less :)

I'm doing a #HappyDanceForHappenstance !! I loved this novella! I don't usually read novellas because I like to read things that are a little longer but seeing as how its Jamie McGuire and I LOVE her I had to pick this up and I'm so glad I did! It was such a refreshing change of pace from what I've been reading lately and I just couldn't get enough. I loved the main character Erin and can't wait to see where the rest of this series leads. Please keep in mind that this is a serial novella and so it's a relatively short read. As an added bonus there's a 1 chapter sneak peek at Beautiful Oblivion which is set to release on July 1st. The next in the Happenstance series doesn't have a publishing date yet but hopefully we won't have to wait too long. Everyone needs to go read this RIGHT NOW! And if you do please consider leaving a review. This is a self published novel and it deserves a ton of support!

Great novella! I really love this book! The plot and characters are great! Happenstance is the perfect title for this book! I laughed, I cried, I was angry, relieved, felt the love and ultimately left me happy when the book was done! Great book! Wouldn't mind a sequel to this one to see what happens next! Jamie! I am a big fan, I have read and loved all of your books and can't wait for more! Loved it!

Jamie McGuire never ceases to amaze me with her writing. Her characters always grip my heart and don't let go. I felt so attached to Erin and can not wait to see where her and Weston's journey goes. Thanks again Jamie for this beautiful book.

I choose 5 out of 5 stars because the story had a great twist to it and the love story between the two main characters is wonderful. Jamie Mcguire did it again, and her stories and charm never fail me. I recommend this to anyone who loves a good love story and believes in beating the odds and being able to come out on top no matter what :) :)

A very good read that is a deviation from McGuire's usually genre. I felt like this was a little more YA and a tad bit predictable to me. With that being said - I REALLY like it. There was one sticking point with me that may be attributed to the new tone Jamie set and not the story itself. I also will reserve spelling out what that sticking point was until I've read the other 2 corresponding novellas. I like when authors venture out & do something new and Jamie's latest is still one of the greatest!

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. What a great first installment for this series of novellas. McGuire never disappoints. I can't wait for the next one.

I loved this novella so much, the premise is definitely an original one. I wish that the story wad a full book, instead of a novella. I don't want to wait for the novella in this series!

Jamie McGuire was able to wrap up thisbeautiful novella series in a way only she can, keeping us guessing and hoping until the very last page. Thank you so much for making this series! In Happenstance part 3 we say goodbye to Weston and Erin, they have both gone through a lot in their last year of high school, knowing hope, lose and love all in one year. I always admired Erin, she was always tenacious, saying time and time again that she didn’t needed help but showing tremendous growth by letting people take care of her and admitting that she needed them, even though it was hard for her because it meant, she had to trust people with part of her happiness, something we wasn’t used to. One part that I loved at the end was the author’s note, Jamie talks about bullying, something that is greatly discussed in the book, and I found her words encouraging and reading Erin’s story and the way she dealt with all the bad and negative forces in her life made me reflect about my own attitude towards life. Amazing novellas, I hope she has more surprises like these in the future.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this novella series. So many emotions have been felt and the characters especially Erin have been through so much. There have been ups and downs, twists and turns, and through it all I was held captive. I am sad that it is over. I really enjoyed Weston and Erin but I am happy with the way it ended. Perfect ending! I hope we get more of them in the future. Great reads for all ages.
