Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Mary Clemens
Poor Linus! Gramma's coming for a visit and she is determined to make Linus give up his security blanket once and for all. As he deals with sister Lucy's tough love, Charlie Brown's stalwart support and Snoopy's determined efforts to procure the blanket, Linus comes to understand that everyone needs something to help them feel secure. It is these connections with elemental truths of humanity that lie at the most endearing of Schulz's works. Other vignettes showcasing Charlie Brown's struggles with kite flying, Lucy's love sick adoration of Schroeder and Sally's exasperated devotion to Linus are interspersed throughout the book. Based on classic "Peanuts" comic strips, this graphic novel adaptation of the animated special by the same name will please fans of all ages. Beginning readers familiar with the characters from either the comic strips or cartoons will find this an approachable introduction to the graphic novel format. A behind-the-scenes look at artwork from the animated special is also included and will appeal to budding cartoonists. Reviewer: Mary Clemens
