Got Happiness?

I've read a lot of happiness books and those written for the popular read always seem to fall into one of two general categories. Some of them, like "Finding Happiness in a Frustrating World", are based on scientific research and what has positively been proven to make people happier in controlled trials. Yet others take a less scientific approach and try to make you happier by re-framing your thinking through wisdom and enlightening stories- which is just what you'll get in "Happiness Now!".

Now while I'm a little more biased towards the scientific approach, let it be said there is MUCH to be gained by reading a book like this. It's what I like to think of as a "cognitive therapy" approach to making one happier. Cognitive therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps people overcome their problems by identifying and changing dysfunctional thinking- which is just how I feel this book accomplishes its goal of trying to make people happier.

One interesting point of the book is that happiness is a decision, and that you can have it right now- hence the title of the book. Of course if it was thar easy, you or I wouldn't need to be reading a book about how to be happy, now would we? Therefore, the bulk of the book is spent discussing obstacles that get in the way.

To that end, one of the many quotes in the book goes like this, "A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes." And changing your attitude for the better is definitely one thing this book succeeds at. Happy trails!

    Life changing!

I have given this book to two friends as gifts. I can't wait to tell more and more people about this book. Given my Catholic upbringing this made me look at life through a different light. I considered myself a happy person before but now even moreso. This is definitely the best self-help book I have ever read. I was sad when it ended bc I wanted to read more! My guyfriend was depressed and has said that this book has helped him a lot!

This is an excellent, must read book

Robert is a talented and witty writer, and in this book he shares the true secrets of happiness, and dispells the myths about happiness being something to pursue, or something 'out there'. I've read many books on happiness and personal development, and this one stands out miles from the crowd. Buy it!

I have chosen to label this book the UNselfhelp book because it is not like all the other ones out there. This book makes a lot of sense however any change in how we see ourselves is uncomfortable when we step out of our comfort zones especially when it goes against everything we are taught. So dare to truly life your life as you really are and not what the world has instilled you to believe about yourself. This book can be very freeing if read with an open mind and is a must read. I have found though that change is hard when others you are close to are in a different place than I am but still feel it is worth while to be happy 'inspite of', my circumstances, whether or not my loved ones act the way I feel they should,or the lies we tell ourselves about life. Anyway I feel this book has a lot of great insight for those willing to give it shoot.

Following Dr Robert Holden¿s popular appearances on Oprah this summer, Hay House has published the USA edition of his international bestseller 'Happiness NOW'. And I absolutely love this book! It is a perfect companion to his other books 'Shift Happens!' and 'Success Intelligence'. In 'Happiness NOW' Robert writes in a very friendly, personal style. Every page carrries an insight, a gem, on how to attract more genuine happiness now. This book is inspiring, funny, deep, helfpul, and I can happily recommend it to anyone who really wants to feel more happy. You can also learn more about Robert's work with The Happiness Project by visiting his websit - A definite 5 star book!
