The magical world of Dr. Seuss springs into sight in this wondrous mini pop-up book. These six pop-ups are the best possible way to say, "Today is your birthday! Today you are you!"
Publishers Weekly
The Birthday Honk-Honker (" Wake Up! For today is your Day of all Days") and the Great Birthday Bird ("Come on! Brush your teeth and get dressed! It's your Day of all Days! It's the Best of the Best!") get the party started in Dr. Seuss's 1959 classic Happy Birthday to You!, now available in a handsize, pop-up edition. Fun paper engineering adds even more energy to Seuss's signature illustrations. Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.

Grandparents may get a real kick out of gifting their little ones with this Dr. Seuss, which dates back to the 1950s. It is likely to remind them that there is hardly a five-year-old alive who does not believe that their birthday is one of the grand events of a lifetime. The idea of Birthday Bird like the one in Katroo, who arranges an increasingly elaborate celebration, seems quite appropriate, and who could resist dreaming about a boat sized cake, cooked by "Snookers and Snookers, the official Katroo Happy Birthday cookers." As just this line shows, from the beginning, Seuss was a master of the kind of language play that develops phonemic awareness, an important pre-literacy skill. Separating out the similar but distinct sounds of "Snookers, cookers, Dutter and Butter" is vastly more engaging than the inappropriate and mind-numbing workbook pages being pushed at preschoolers. Thank goodness Random House reissues the various Dr. Seuss tales every few years, limiting their changes to a glitzier cover. Reviewer: Mary Hynes-Berry

Meet the Author

Dr. Seuss was born Theodor Geisel in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 2, 1904. After attending Dartmouth College and Oxford University, he began a career in advertising. His advertising cartoons, featuring Quick, Henry, the Flit!, appeared in several leading American magazines.
Dr. Seuss's first children's book, And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, hit the market in 1937, and the world of children's literature was changed forever!
In 1957, Seuss's The Cat in the Hat became the prototype for one of Random House's best- selling series, Beginner Books. This popular series combined engaging stories with outrageous illustrations and playful sounds to teach basic reading skills.
Brilliant, playful, and always respectful of children, Dr. Seuss charmed his way into the consciousness of four generations of youngsters and parents. In the process, he helped kids learn to read.
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1984 and three Academy Awards, Seuss was the author and illustrator of 44 children's books, some of which have been made into audiocassettes, animated television specials, and videos for children of all ages. Even after his death in 1991, Dr. Seuss continues to be the best-selling author of children's books in the world.

I bought this book for my niece today who turns 2 today. There is not better way to celebrate a birthday than with a really good book. People add stocking stuffers i just add additional fun to my family's birthday gifts. Fantastic Journey for any child/adult of any age.

This is a very small book with pop-up pictures. It will delight your little one. Just know that is more of a gift topper, than a separate gift. Due to it's small size the pop-up pictures may not last too long, but it will be fun to read. A classic Dr. Seuss book, terrific for a birthday!

Seuss is always wonderful, but this pop-up book is a lot smaller than I expected...my bad, because I didnt note the size and thought it would be bigger!

Great celebratory book for every year of your little ones life- pop-up engagement begins as soon as you open the cover. Be aware that this is a "pocket-size" book- great for little hands but not for adding a dedication to your child or loved one.

I was considering purchasing this for my 2 year old. However, though listed recommendation here says 8 months+ apparently some reviewers feel differently as they tried reading to older children and they aren't as attentive. So, I may wait...because I have a little fidget myself...I mean, he's 2 after all..

I am a preschool teacher. On each child's birthday I give them a choice of which birthday book they want me to read to the class. Since the first time they've heard this story, no other book has been chosen. My only issue is that it's tiny. It's only maybe 6-7 inches in length and 3 inches wide. It's most certainly deserving of a full size book!
