    Part 3/ story 1

I hug him tightly as he rocks me back and forth gently. I look up at him.

"Legolas, Arwen was simply teasing you. She is not betrothed to you my son, nor will she very be so long as you do not wish it." He says. I clutch him trustingly and smile a quivering smile. Ada would never lie to me.
    ????????????????????????????????????????????
I breathe in Legolas grassy scent and stroke his silky blonde hair. Elrond must not have told her how fragile he is and how easily his feelings are hurt. He has just returned from almost fading and seeing his mother killed by a vicious band of orcs. If I would have been there, if only- no!

It is over, it is done. She is gone. But still, the pain had been driven like a nail into the poor elfling's heart. Perhaps Arwen does not know. She seems nice enough. Suddenly, Legolas squirms in my arms and looks me in the eyes. Oof! He may be getting a little big to carry. I smile reassuringly at my only son.

    "Yes, little Leaf?"

"I love you, Ada. Also, I'm hungry." His stomach grumbles, perfectly marking the occasion. I smile.

"Go get Arwen and come to supper." I push him along and he runs off, no doubt eager for his midday meal.
