Happy Hanukkah, Dear Dragon

Happy Hanukkah, Dear Dragon

by Margaret Hillert

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Judy Silverman
A dragon and the little boy who seems to be his constant companion visit the boy's friend, who is celebrating a special holiday, but what holiday is it? We are told nothing about it—no name for it, no reason for a celebration, no reason for special food, and no name for the food either—just the phrase "we can have fun." Then we see nine candles, all lit, and apparently the host child has used a match to light them. What is going on here? The controlled vocabulary makes any kind of explanation nearly impossible. This book is not recommended as an introduction to Hanukkah. Reviewer: Judy Silverman
