Overview

Mindless fling, harmless hook-up, booty call, friends with benefits. Call it what you want, but let's be honest: more females than ever are choosing to stay single-and sleeping around has become an accepted, if not expected, part of the singles scene. But while casual sex is no longer a girl's dirty little secret, it's not always as easy as it's often made out to be. In THE HAPPY HOOK-UP, two 30-something women who have done hard time in the casual sex trenches address the various issues that single women face before, during, and after hooking up. Using extensive interviews with a variety of experts, THE HAPPY HOOK-UP explores the physical, behavioral, and emotional issues that go along with doing the casual deed. Accompanying the authors' sardonic and sage advice is an array of entertaining and educational anecdotes from women who've hooked up and survived to share their enlightening tales. They shed light on such important issues as planning ahead (go easy on the alcohol-and the fiber), special engagements (celebrity screws; workplace whoopie), and the awkward moments after (the phone number exchange; breakfast in public). Featuring quizzes and checklists to gauge the reader's casual sex readiness as well as glimpses into getting lucky from the male perspective, THE HAPPY HOOK-UP looks at commitment-free fun from a smart and empowering perspective.A woman's guide to casual sex, featuring advice from relevant experts, vixens in the know, and a few well-chosen guys. Appeals to the same sassy gals who watch Sex and the City, read Cosmo, and use Blue Q's "Dirty Girl" and "Virgin/Slut" beauty products. A recent U.S. study showed that almost 50 percent of adults have had a one-night stand.

Happy Hook-Up: Single Girl's Guide to Casual Sex

I bought this book after also picking up The Hookup Handbook and thought they were both fabulous for different reasons. This one is really comprehensive and offers a ton of great advice for modern women who don't have time for relationships, etc. The Hookup Handbook is great for a laugh. I suggest getting them both! Have fun, be careful...

Happy Hook-Up: Single Girl's Guide to Casual Sex

i thought this was a really thorough look at hooking up...much better than some of the other books on the same topic that have come out recently. if you're looking for practical advice that will help you deal with a lot of the things that happen when you go out and have no-string sex, this is a great book to read.

Happy Hook-Up: Single Girl's Guide to Casual Sex

I think this book offers a very accurate and honest perspective on what today's dating scene has become. We all know that very few women in their 20s and 30s get asked out on, or go on, dates anymore. Most of us just meet guys through friends or at bars, and we cut to the chase (no dinner, just sex). This book points out that we may be doing ourselves a disservice by behaving that way -- and yet it also says that if we've thought it through carefully and really done it in a clear-headed manner, we should be perfectly okay with that. I haven't read it cover-to-cover...it's one of those books you kind of flip through and laugh along with, or feel kind of enlightened by. I like the fact that it doesn't just say GO FOR IT, though. It illustrates, through advice and personal stories from other women, all the pros and cons of hooking up. I think a lot of women will get some great things out of reading this.

    Hilarious sexperts

This is a hilarious and well written guide to the singles scene. Lots of good advice on how to avoid the perils, such as STD's, as well as enjoy, in a really funny presentation. Read it now, giggle and learn!

    Hilarious! (and smart)

I thought this book was dead-on...it's very responsible in its approach to addressing the subject matter but strikes a good balance between humor and intelligent advice. It's pretty frank at times, so probably not great for younger readers. The cover is also a really cute leopard-print, so I think it would be a great gift...I'm definitely getting it for all my single girlfriends.
