Overview

Two damaged men.

One dangerous mission.

One healing love.

These are the men of Hard Ink.

Hard Ink Tattoo owner Jeremy Rixey has taken on his brother's stateside fight against the enemies that nearly killed Nick and his Special Forces team a year ago. Now Jeremy's whole world has been turned upside down by the chaos—and by a brilliant, quiet blond man who tempts him to settle down for the first time ever.

Recent kidnapping victim Charlie Merritt has always been better with computers than with people, so when he's drawn into the SF team's investigation of his army colonel father's corruption, he's surprised to find acceptance and friendship—especially since his father never accepted who he was. Even more surprising is the heated tension he feels with sexy, tattooed Jeremy, Charlie's opposite in almost every way.

With tragedy and chaos all around them, temptation flashes hot, and Jeremy and Charlie can't help but wonder why they're trying so hard to be good …

THIS!  This is the story I have been waiting for and wanting (really dying) to read since Hard As It Gets introduced us to Jeremy and Charlie and I have to say it was worth the wait!!  Man, Laura Kaye really gave me everything I wanted with these two characters (except maybe a longer story, which I understand) and left me with a HUGE smile on my face.  I found myself going back to re-read their story again over the weekend just to experience it all again (yeah, it was good the second time too).  It is no secret that I love the Hard Ink series, but I swear Laura Kaye is getting better and better with each book.  I am invested in this cast of characters and I am torn wanting this group to get their mission accomplished and never wanting Laura to run out of characters to write about! Hard to Be Good, is excellent writing.  Yes, this is a M/M story, but it is so much more than that, Jeremy and Charlie's story has been slowly building for the past three books and the result is a beautiful, emotion packed story that will make any romantic sigh.  I loved how these two came together! (No spoilers).  If you have never read a book in the Hard Ink series, I highly suggest you do, it will really make this novella mean all that much more to you.  However, if you have to get your hands on Jeremy first, you could read this as a stand alone and be satisfied with the story on its own (I strongly suggest reading from the beginning though, it builds the tension  deliciously that way). Hard to Be Good was hard to put down.  My heart was in my throat, my arms got goosebumps and my eyes welled up with tears of emotion reading this novella.  Laura Kaye is magic at telling complex and engaging stories and each installment of the Hard Ink series just proves (to me) that she can write anything into a love story.  The men of Hard Ink are embroiled in a battle for their honor, but the romance (and heat) that Laura Kaye infuses into each story is pretty amazing (spectacular actually .   If you haven't grabbed up Hard to Be Good yet... GO!  Run to your closest internet connection and 1-click this today.  Jeremy and Charlie's story is not one to miss, I promise it was worth the wait for these two.

## TOO SHORT. 90 pages. I have been anxiously awaiting Jeremy's book for some time. He is my favorite character in this series, hence the anticipation to read his story. Unfortunately, I was a tad disappointed. I feel he deserved more depth to his story. It was completely rushed. As soon as these two had their 1st sexual encounter, they were gushing about love and forever. I wish there had been more build up, more banter, more sexual tension, more interacting.....just more! 3 stars is all I can manage for this one.

If you have read the first four books in the Hard Ink Series you have been waiting to read Jeremy and Charlies story! This book might be short, but Laura heats up every page with the story of Jeremy, the hot tattoo artist who is covered in ink and piercings and Charlie the shy computer geek . All I can say is that this book lit my sheets on fire and took me to a place that has me wanting more! This story had so much emotion and sexiness to it I couldn't turn the pages quick enough. If you are up for a quick love story there is no better one than Hard to Be Good!

Jeremy has no idea what went wrong but the building that has housed his ink shop and home is now part rubble and on top of that they lost 2 of those who have been helping them all in this battle.  Jeremy has had some feelings stirring for Charlie for awhile now but he is not sure how Charlie feels. Jeremy is kicking himself and blaming himself for freezing up during the fight. Charlie does his best to give Jeremy support and the attraction between these two finally ignites.  Very  well written short story. I would have loved more length to their story but so glad they finally got their story. Very romantic, two who find solace in each others arms and help each other through things not many would understand. I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review

I don't think I can possibly explain how much I loved this short story. I found myself smiling from ear to ear at the end. I could just feel the happiness radiating through the characters. Well done!

‘If he didn’t find a way to get Charlie alone soon, he was going to lose it. He really was.’ ~Jeremy Minor spoilers alert!!! I loved the epigraph at the beginning of this novella: ‘Love knows no distinctions, it only knows the joy of finding in another everything your soul needs to feel complete.’ Tattoo artist Jeremy was by far my favorite character in the Hard Ink series. He was so funny and warm in the previous novels as a supporting character. So, I was pretty excited to finally read his story and spend more time with him. In this novella dedicated to his romance with shy, computer nerd Charlie, Jeremy discovered what it was like to finally have an emotional connection to a lover. He’d only done the casual sex thing before with both men and women. Charlie found his courage to go for what he wanted; and consequently, he learned what it was like to be accepted for who he really was regardless of who he loved romantically. ‘The instant his lips crashed into Jeremy’s, Charlie realized something he’d never known before. Conquering fear didn’t mean not being afraid, it meant being afraid of something and doing it anyway. It meant saying no to fear – no you can’t rule me, no you can’t hold me back, no you can’t keep me from the things I want the most. Not anymore. If there were going to be consequences for loving someone as incredible as Jeremy Rixey, Charlie would take every one. Because Jeremy was worth the risk.’ Their love story caught fire pretty quickly and had plenty of steam. The entire series takes place over a few short weeks, so that was understandable. However, I wouldn’t recommend reading it as a standalone or out of order as I did if you’re new to the Hard Ink gang.

5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed and kept you interested. This story has laughs, pain, betrayal, grief, and heartbreak. If you have not read the below books from this series I would highly recommend that you do: Hard as It Gets (Hard Ink, #1) Hard as You Can (Hard Ink, #2) Hard to Hold on To (Hard Ink, #2.5) Hard to Come By (Hard Ink #3) This is Jeremy and Charlie’s story. This story picks up were the last one left off. Jeremy and Charlie are attracted to each other. Charlie is not sure he has a chance with Jeremy. Will the guys accept a relationship between them? When they come together it is wonderful but in the next moment Charlie is trying to keep them a secret. Will Jeremy want the relationship to be a secret? Or will he have to fight for a relationship for them? Can Charlie finally believe that he is accepted and that everyone wants them to be together? Will he be able to prove to Jeremy he is ready for them to be a couple? I loved all the characters in this series. It’s great to see how the other couples are doing from the earlier books. I highly recommend this book, this series and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

I haven't read it and I am nervous to do so. I was hoping for a great story for these 2 and don't want to be disappointed. For those that are homophobic....thats YOUR problem. There are so many better things in this world to be concerned about. I hope the author didn't make it short for any other reason than lack of knowledge.
