Zombies? Really? Plum fans know that the series has not thrived on its plots, but on its funny, quirky characters, especially their dialogue. So the best way to experience Evanovich is by having narrator Lorelei King bring to life Stephanie, Lula, Morelli, Ranger, Diesel, Grandma Mazur, and all the other lovable and sometimes despicable secondary characters. King’s skill in consistently projecting timbre, tone, intonation, and accent allows the listener to know immediately which character is speaking. She’s a master narrator who expertly conveys sexy males (and there are three in this book), females of different ethnicities, the young, and the very old. While Stephanie’s life remains frustratingly static, King’s performance of Lula and Grandma Mazur will still make listeners laugh out loud. E.Q.
