    Very insightful!

    This book was recommended to me by a therapist before it was published. I preordered it for my Nook, and then waited months for it. I had to read this book slowly to digest it. I originally bought it for my Nook, then bought it in hard cover for ease of referring back to and marking up. I even bought some extra copies to give to family members who are also struggling with unhappiness and anxiety. I highly recommend it!

    A Look at Cognitive Negativity Rooted in Prehistoric Thought

    Hardwiring Happiness provides insight on how we can better understand the human brain to ultimately improve our overall wellbeing. Hanson distills the art of achieving lasting happiness in his deceptively simple four-step plan (HEAL). This book is an uplifting guide to self-improvement that focuses on positive thinking as a way to break away from our prehistoric tendency toward a negative bias. Hanson’s prose makes the technical subject of contemplative practices highly accessible, and the exercises are fast, fun, and results oriented.

    Hardwiring Happiness explains one perspective on the elusive nature of happiness; however, this book at times takes on a tone that is a bit too magical or new age to appeal to my taste. I would have also liked to see far more research cited throughout. I declare this a good book but not without its flaws. I have no doubt it will change people’s lives, but then again, everyone is different. One great self-help book that I highly recommend  is Presnall's Search for Serenity and How to Achieve it.
