Overview

Matt and Jeff Hardy have proven that a relentless drive for success can make your wildest dreams come true. While still in high school, Matt and Jeff decided to become professional wrestlers at any cost. In a business that usually prizes giants, they were told their aspirations were unreasonable and impossible. But after the tragic loss of their mother, they began to pursue their goals with unstoppable determination.

The Hardy Boyz: Exist 2 Inspire tells the story of Matt and Jeff Hardy's journey to WWE superstardom. Whether taking beatings from Razor Ramon and Nikolai Volkoff during their first WWE matches or winning the WWE Tag Team Championships against the Acolytes, the Hardy Boyz have experienced all the pains and pleasures that sports-entertainment has to offer. Their fast-moving, high-flying ring style has raised the bar for anyone who aims to follow in their footsteps.

From receiving a standing ovation for their 1999 No Mercy ladder match against Edge and Christian to winning singles championships, Matt and Jeff have succeeded both as a team and as individuals. Still in their mid-twenties, the Hardyz have long careers ahead of them. The Hardy Boyz is the inspirational true story of two small-town North Carolina boys who clawed their way to the top of the magical world of professional wrestling and achieved their childhood dreams.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Matt and Jeff Hardy have been a World Wrestling Federation tag team since only 1997, but these North Carolina brothers have already made a major dent in WWF/WWE history. This high-flying dual biography captures the aerial wizards as they plot their course from backyard wrestling matches to world championships. WWF fans will especially enjoy the contributions of Lita, the Hardy Boyz' lovely and lethal Significant Other.
Publishers Weekly
Known for their high-flying antics and a particular affection for the ladder-as-weapon, sibling wrestling duo Matt and Jeff Hardy stake out new terrain with this double memoir recounting their young lives in professional wrestling. Beginning with a hardscrabble upbringing on a North Carolina tobacco farm, shaped by their father's tough love and their mother's premature death by cancer, the book goes on to detail the brothers' rise through the ranks of the wrestling world, from indie circuit to professional wrestling federation. With loads of action photographs to underscore the bone-crushing journey, the book recounts a litany of hard-fought matches and even some romance interludes, told in rotating first-person paragraphs. Overall, brother Jeff comes across as the more creative of the two, expressing his individuality through hair dye and tattoos, while Matt comes across as the tougher, more hard-nosed of the siblings. Full of gym-class motivational diatribes and exhortations to "extreme" living (i.e. jumping out of hotel windows into the snow wearing only boxer shorts), this book is part star bio and part inspirational tract for the burgeoning road warrior. It also, perhaps sadly, marks the break-up of the team, as the Hardy Boyz head off to build wrestling identities as solo performers. (Mar.) Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.

    It Does Inspire

I bought this book the day it came out and I've read it five times. I'm on the sixth time right now and I feel it is one of the best books I've ever read. I cried when I read about their mother, I laughed at their childhood antics, and was moved by how they kept pushing until they finally accomplished their goals. I've met the Hardys and have seen they are two wonderful guys and this book will show everyone just how great they are.

    more from this reviewer

    Inspires to read more

As a long time wrestling fan, this was the first wrestling biography that I ever read. I have been a fan of the Hardys for 10+ years. I grew up watching them week in and week out. This book not only gives you insite to their lives at the time (it was published in 2003) but in site into the business as well. It is a great read and I would recommend it to any wrestling fan, even if their not a fan of the Hardys.

    A very inspiring book

I really enjoyed this book because the Hardy Boys are my favorite tag-team of the 90's and 2000's. The book talks about the tragic death of their mother to cancer, and how their father was all they had. Even though he discoraged them from making in in the wrestling business, the still fulfilled their dreams.

This book brought out the real Hardy Boyz...

I remember first seeing the Hardys back when Matt and Jeff both had really short hair. They didn't do the big name matches, but the potential was there. Since then, these guys have laid their bodies on the line for our entertainment and I for one appreciate everything they do day in and day out. Exist 2 Inspire does what it says. It inspires the reader to continue with the book, rekindle the listed matches in mind and hope that the Boyz find their way back together as Team Extreme. Matt expresses his love for Amy as Jeff expresses his love for Beth. Both of these gentlemen have much to live for and be proud of in and out of the ring. To Matt and Jeff: Thank you for the inspirational matches, interviews and this book! Live life to the fullest, that is the one thing I have learned from two guys who understand hard work, dedication and the art of trying new things! Good Luck!!

    This is the best book

I liked how the Boyz could take their lives us and tells us all about them. I have always been their fan and always will be. I enjoyed reading about their mom and the way that they felt 9/11 they just put so much feeling into the book that it is awsome they were willing to do that. They always just give so much.
