Overview

Offering clear, concise instructions, this series has served as a classic reference for handcrafters for more than 30 years. A jam-packed, updated resource filled with new ideas, this guide is also a dependable and complete crochet-instruction manual. Some classic motifs that are presented include a simple lace triangle, a delicate popcorn trefoil, and an intricate French square, each worked in contemporary yarns and displayed in full-color photographs. More patterns are derived from an Italian square, which makes a great base for a casual cushion, and a diamond square that works perfectly as the foundation for an easy-going shoulder bag. Free-form techniques are also explained, and crocheters are urged to experiment and combine patterns. For those who aspire to learn many motifs, instructions are provided for stitching practice squares into the ultimate afghan.

Good collection of motifs, but not uses for all of them

This book contains exactly what it claims on the cover: 250 different motifs, many of which are rounds or granny square type patterns. The stitch diagrams and instructions are good, but if you are looking for project ideas involving uses for these 250 different types of motifs, look elsewhere. It's a good addition to a crocheter's library if that crocheter is experienced, though.
