Children's LiteratureThere are plenty of books available that present the concept of shapes. This one features a familiar character, Harold of Harold and the Purple Crayon fame. There are no shapes that are not normally found in other books. It starts with a circle, moves on to a heart, triangle, rectangle, square and more. The part that is a little different is a request to kids to count the number of times that a certain shape appears on the page. The concluding pages follow the normal end of Harold's adventures. He heads on home under a crescent moon and goes to bed. Once in bed there are plenty of star shapes to count in the closing spread. 2004, HarperCollins, Ages 2 to 4.
