Overview

Reader's first met Harold and his purple crayon over forty years ago and instantly fell in love. Now, for the very first time, five magical adventures are together in one volume.

The story begins in Harold and the Purple Crayon. One evening, Harold decides to go on a walk. With his purple crayon, he draws the moon, then a path, then a field, then a forest..

Harold's Fairy Tale is complete with a flying carpet, and a good fairy-all drawn by Harold, of course.

When Harold decides to visit Mars in Harold's Trip to the Sky, he draws himself a rocket ship and returns home just in time for breakfast.

Of course, Harold's Circus isn't like any other circus in the world because Harold has drawn all the characters and then some. And then there's Harold's ABC, a charming introduction to the alphabet.

The ingenious and imaginative concept behind these stories will intrigue children and keep them completely absorbed as page by page unfolds the dramatic and clever adventures of Harold and the purple crayon.

Interviews & Essays

Since the 1950s, Harold and his magical purple crayon have amazed reading audiences with imaginative journeys. Everyone -- young and grownups alike -- can experience Harold's invent-as-he-goes-along world, a place full of wonder. Thankfully, five of Harold's adventures are presented together in this one volume, with complete text and illustrations: Harold and the Purple Crayon; Harold's Fairy Tale; Harold's Trip to the Sky; Harold's Circus; and Harold's ABC, a marvelous introduction to the alphabet. Ingenious and wildly imaginative, this is a sure classic for any child's library. It's the kind of book pre-school children can follow along visually as their parents read aloud, and a book that's sure to spark a young reader's interests. "The unpredictable twists of plot are sure to keep the onlooker in a state of surprise, anticipation, and great good humor." -- The New York Times.

    Way Cool

I bought Harold's Purple Crayon Treasury for my 6 year old daughter as a celebration to the new school year. All 3 of my younger children absolutely love Harold! These stories really get a childs imagination flowing. We like it so much my nieces and nephews are getting this one for Christmas.

I'd give it more stars if I could

I remember reading Harold and the Purple Crayon when I was a child, but I never knew there was more than one book in the series. Now I've got five in one place! I'm 30, and I found these to be the most charming, enjoyable, and surreal books I've read all year! I'm so happy to have found them!

Inspirational book, made an artist of me

As a very young child, we would go to the school library, I found Harold and his purple crayon. This is the greatest book from my early childhood. I used to trace the picture, then drew my own. I am now an artist working at a graphics company, and I enjoy astronomy (due to the moon that followed me too), I recently bought a new hardcopy of the book for myself just because this is one of the most memorable books from my childhood, my original copy is pretty worn out. Give it to a young person in your life and watch their imagination grow!
