Overview

For many years tournament players have spent many hours over many weeks trying to develop their Bidding Systems. These systems have never been published and seem to have remained a closely guarded secret. The Harris System has developed over a number of years by a group of tournament players with a major input from the international player Neil Rosen. Based on a five card major/strong no trump system there are a large number of "add ons" that mean that most bidding situations that players may face are dealt with. It is not suggested that players need to play the whole system rather that the system acts as a valuable starting point for players - at all levels - looking to develop a more comprehensive system than they might be currently be playing.

Meet the Author

Jonathan is by profession a Chartered Surveyor – in 2000/1 he was President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - he was appointed an OBE for services to Further Education and a CBE for services to the Surveying profession. Based in London, England, he is 71 years of age, married to Jenny for 48 years – and has 4 children and 10 grandchildren.
He was introduced to competitive duplicate bridge only some 6 years ago – and became immediately hooked! In a short period of time his professional bridge playing friends moved him from playing weak NT to strong NT with 5 card majors – and it wasn’t long before he started playing 2 over 1 game forcing and then a number of add on conventions.
It is Jonathan’s Professional background that motivated him to put down clearly, accurately and concisely the playing system that he and his professionals use. Since he did so he has found that his book is not only a great tool of reference for him and his playing colleagues – many others of all levels of bridge competence seem to want a copy to help them also progress.
Jonathan is not a bridge pro – hasn’t yet got strings of bridge achievements behind him – but is determined to improve his game – and having and learning a sound bidding system is an important part of progress.
