Harrison's Book of Backyard Birds: A Field Guide for Young Explorers
Harrisons Book of Backyard Birds is a book of 5000 words about my own experiences with backyard birds in my own backyard. It is a book that would be beneficial for any age, and especially 7 years and up. It's about getting to know a few species of birds that regularly fly into our world everyday, mostly they go unnoticed and are sometimes even discouraged in our neighborhoods. At the same time they grace us with their songs every morning and every evening yet I wonder how many people actually take note of this? So I have made it my business to get to know the birds around my house-and It is only once that you take notice of these birds and they're oratories that you become immediately drawn in-for me it has become an absolute obsession and so I have turned that obsession into a little book for my grandson, Harrison.

About the Author

I am a native of Arizona, born in1958, Phoenix, Arizona to a recently migrated family moving from Indianapolis, Indiana to Arizona the summer before I was born—just after arriving there by car. I am one of two, fraternal twins born as the forth and fifth child to my parents Donald T. and Rosemary Higgins. I am one of seven children in all and attended school in Arizona throughout my undergraduate studies and received a BFA in Fine Art from the University of Arizona in 1985, and an MFA in Graphic Design in 2015 from Vermont College of Fine Arts.

I have published two books previously, The first of them being my Graduate Thesis: THE HISTORY OF NOW, ©2015 Roswell Bookbinding, Phoenix, Arizona. My thesis was around social engagement — a graphic and historical response into the study of economic, social, political and multi-cultural events that make up our present day history and to look deeper into the causes and effects of these events and to be an instrument of change and perception in the making of our own history. As part of my Graduate (VCFA) study I went on to publish another book entitled; 55 DAYS, ©2015 Roswell Bookbinding, Phoenix, Arizona. 55 DAYS was created to define the work of my new endeavor and to showcase 55 pieces, created in my 55th year, from 55 days of my first graduate semester where I created a single piece of design every single day for six months. 55 DAYS serves as an outline— as to how the History of Now will be defined and where I will take it into the future.
