Level 1 uses sentences with clear and simple words and illustrations that help the reader understand the story line. Level 2 is the springboard for emerging readers: the stories use longer sentences, yet maintain a vocabulary easy enough for the child to feel comfortable on his or her own. Level 3 offers more challenging sentences and longer stories. Preschool - Grade 2.

    Why Beer?

My grandson, age 7, brought this book home from the school library. It looked like a good 'innocent' story, but I was appalled when the 'children' on the bus began to sing '99 bottles of beer on the wall'. In this age of anti drugs and alcohol being taught in our school system I find this unacceptable reading. The story is cute, but this section ruins it. Our school is pulling it from their library shelves.

    Harry Goes to Day Camp

I am appalled that a book written as an "Easy-To-Read-Level 1" book would have a song in it mentioning BEER. On top of that, my school library has it as an Accelerated Reader which enables the students to take a test on it. I'm disappointed with the authors.
