Ten Gallon:

This hat is so big, it tends to make you think big. So, buckarettes, if you've got a guy who's thinkin' small, give him this hat as a present and see if it don't make him stand taller and give him ten-gallon ideas-even though it's only holding three quarts. The Ten Gallon hat came on the scene around 1925. It's highly unlikely any working cowboy ever owned one. The immense sky pieces were popularized by Tom Mix and other Hollywood buckaroos. Drugstore cowboys liked them. So did photographers, 'cause anyone who ever saw a Ten Gallon hat wanted their picture taken wearing it.
