In Haunted Britain and Ireland, renowned ghost seeker Richard Jones takes the reader on a fascinating journey to find remarkable and diverse places that are frequented by some of history's most infamous and colorful characters.
Whatever the scientific evidence both for and against the existence of ghosts, spooky sightings and experiences continue to form an important part of our oral tradition. The tales passed down through generations captivate even the most skeptical among us. From phantom kings and armies restaging their fatal moments in battle, to the tortured spirits of notorious villains and tragic heroes pacing the scene of their downfall, Richard Jones reveals and delights in them all.
Most of the sites are open to the public, enabling the avid ghost hunter to follow in the author's footsteps and experience at first hand the atmosphere as well as perhaps even the odd ghoulish apparition so evocatively portrayed in this book.
Eerily illustrated with atmospheric photographs of specters and haunted sites, and supported by extracts from original documents, this entertaining and well-researched book is irresistible reading for anyone with an interest in things that go bump in the night. It is also a fascinating guide for those who wish to explore for themselves the myths and legends of Britain and Ireland's haunted heritage.

Good read. Lots of interesting places to discover, and this book just opens the door on each of them, just enough to pique your interest even more than it was by reading this book. :)
Richard Jones loves Britain and the brief but informative histories of the castles is wonderful. I wish he'd make the ghost stories a little scarier but they're still great! I've been to England once and cannot wait to go back. I've also read his 'Haunted Pubs of Britain and Ireland' and am planning to buy his 'Walking Dickensian London' cause that's one of the things I want to do when I get back to London again! I highly recommend his Haunted and Walking books!
This book was very good. I was very into it. I very much believe in ghosts and this book particularly put a lot of perspective in to this particular phenoninon.
I was intigued by the history of the Castles. This was very interesting only because of the fact, that the Castles were haunted, and the pictures were beautiful. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is fascinated by Castles.
