Overview

Everybody knows better. Yet from the days of ancient Greece, people have hurried their steps as they passed by-or, Heaven forbid, walked through-a cemetery after dark. Indeed, over the centuries we've developed many a superstition to protect ourselves from restless graveyard ghosts. Haunted Cemeteries exhumes more than two dozen stories of some of the most actively haunted graveyards both in this nation and abroad, including:

The Greenwood Hauntings: Greenwood Cemetery in Decatur, Illinois, is one of the most ghoulish graveyards in America's Heartland, sporting at least five individual entities, a gaggle of ghost lights, and a whole trainload of Civil War dead.

Pretty in Pink: The ethereal ghost of the Pink Lady floats over the graves of the Yorba Cemetery in Yorba Linda, California-on June 15 of even-numbered years, that is.

The Queen of Voodoo: The restless spirit of Marie Laveau, the nineteenth-century Queen of Voodoo, is said to appear in New Orleans's St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 in the form of a gigantic black crow or a phantom black hellhound-when she's not walking through the French Quarter.

Are you interested in history and enjoy reading about the super natural? This book is up your alley. You can learn about haunted hounds to catacomb cemeteries. This is a quick and easy read that beckons one to travel and explore in the darkness. I appreciated the history and research that went into the chapters. The book would be informative for pre-teens on up this would make a good bedside book. Once the stories have ended you can look up web sites, other books on spooks, or even stroll some cemeteries where to dead are not at rest.

I love ghost stories especially those centered around haunted houses and cemeteries. This one disappointed me greatly. I am not sure if it was the third person point of view or his condensing tone over the Wiccan religion. I think it was a bit of both. There was potential book but the author apparently seemed to have thrown it out the door.
