Alexis is creeped out by the laundry room in her apartment compl

Alexis is creeped out by the laundry room in her apartment complex. She is surprised when she runs into Ian who she had a crush on last year and stood her up on their one date. Now both of them discover there is something strange about their apartment complex. A ghost wanting revenge. While they work together to stay safe they discover they still like each other. Now they just have to get rid of this ghost in order to move on to a relationship.

I liked this story. I will say it made me want to put locks on my cupboards and look for all my cats. Alexis and Ian are a great couple they just have to sort out why Alexis should give Ian another chance to date again. I think Alexis does a great job overcoming her fear to help save her cat and Ian. Even when she wants to run she doesn't and that made her a strong character. This ghost in this book doesn't give up.  Ian won't give up either he wants to keep Alexis safe and uses everything he has ever heard to do so. They both work together to get out alive. This story will creep you out but if you are looking for something creepy and good give this one a try.

This was probably the least favorite of the novellas that I read

This was probably the least favorite of the novellas that I read this week.  It had sort of a campy feel to me.  I couldn't help picturing the girl from The Ring crawling out of the T.V. when she was describing the ghost girl crawling out of the cupboard.

I did like the romantic aspect of the story, Alexis and Ian running into each other just as the ghost makes her first appearance. Alexis having to overcome the awkwardness of being stood up at the end of spring semester and Ian trying to come up with the way to tell her why he had missed the date. Meanwhile, the ghost kidnaps Tri, her cat and takes her through the walls down to the laundry room.  Ian has read somewhere that salt works against ghosts so taking a handful they head off for the laundry room.  But of course, a handful of salt isn't much against a vengeful ghost!

This was another quick read, and while it didn't hold the same suspense as the other novella's have had for me, it did keep me entertained.

This story was a entertaining to say the least. Definitely has the spook factor one is looking for so close to Halloween. Nothing like moving into a building and not being told that it maybe haunted only to have to fight for your life and that of your cat and long time crush.

In Haunted Chemistry by Lindsey R. Loucks Alexis unexpectedly me

In Haunted Chemistry by Lindsey R. Loucks Alexis unexpectedly meets up with her old lab partner as she is going to do laundry in the basement of her building. The same lab partner who inexplicably stood her up then never contacted her again. Alexis still has feelings for him, but has no desire to have her heart broken.

When strange things suddenly begin to happen in the laundry room cupboards and then her apartment cupboards, her and Ian are suddenly together trying to figure out what is going on! Something hauntingly evil seems to be after them, something they can't explain, and they won't have long to figure it out and save each other from ??? As this is happening, through their fear, Alexis discovers why Ian stood her up...but will they have the chance to try again?

Haunted Chemistry was a really quick, somewhat confusing read. To be honest the plot was difficult to follow and figure out, and I found this to be very distracting from the characters. I felt the story jumped around a bit too much, leaving too many unanswered questions.

I do feel if Haunted Chemistry was longer and the whole concept and relationship expanded on, it might be more than a 2 star rating.

Alexis is at her apartment building about to go to the basement

Alexis is at her apartment building about to go to the basement to do her laundry for the first time. She happens to run into Ian a boy from her chemistry class. They were supposed to go on a date, but a horrible accident in Ian's family had him leaving school immediately without telling Alexis thus breaking their date. he really wants to ask her out again, but is scared she won't give him a second chance. Alexis really wants to go out again with Ian, but doesn't understand why he pulls a no show/no call on their date. In the midst of all of the there are strange noises in the basement with locker doors opening and shutting by themselves. Ian stays by Alexis to be her protector and ends up saving himself, Alexis and Alexis's cat from being eaten by a ghost.

    Great short read.

Reading Lindsey R. Loucks's Haunted Chemistry is a lot like sitt

Reading Lindsey R. Loucks's Haunted Chemistry is a lot like sitting around a dying camp fire, telling spooky stories as the night settles eerily around you.  It's a fun read, and a delicious shiver or two might be in order. It definitely kept me entertained.

However, it does fall into the trap of the novella--not a lot of room for plot development--and because of this there are some pretty big coincidences and awfully neat conclusions reached. Still, it's not at all a bad way to spend an hour and a half or so--and it will definitely get you in the Halloween mood.

Now, where did I leave that flashlight? I could swear something just moved in that corner over there....

Haunted Chemistry by Lindsey R. Loucks Alexis has laundry to do

Haunted Chemistry by Lindsey R. Loucks

Alexis has laundry to do in her new apartment building. She's not comfortable going down to the buildings basement but the task needs to be done. She runs into Ian, her former chemistry partner, and even though he stood her up for a date, she's glad of the company because she's a little scared of the basement. A cabinet door seems to open by itself. Back in her own apartment with Ian, her cat is acting strangely now too. The cat is staring and hissing at an open cabinet door. Alexis is sure that door wasn't open when she left to start the laundry.

Remember that old saying "don't go down to the basement"?
Alexis and Ian see a ghost and identify it very quickly. And they confront the ghost. Brave or stupid? They are pretty blasé about the whole situation which I found unbelievable. Really? You just accept and go after the ghost?
This novella is written in the present tense which I have a difficult time with. Perhaps that's why I found this one difficult get into.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

    Actual rating: 3.5 stars

In Haunted Chemistry by Lindsey R Loucks, Alexis never expected to run into Ian in the laundry room of her apartment building. She hasn't seen him since just before he stood her up on what would have been their first date. Alexis thought they had a great time together in their chemistry class and felt like they had a good connection. But maybe she was wrong. She intends to find out now that she has the opportunity.

'I have a feeling whatever he wants to tell me has hurt him. It surprises me how much I don't like the thought of him in any kind of pain.'

Ian had planned on visiting Alexis tonight to explain what happened that fateful evening. Better still, he sees her at the laundry room and they get a chance to reconnect. But strange things are happening both in the laundry room and in her apartment. They band together to fight the force threatening them, all the while still being drawn together physically. Can they get rid of the evil spirit without either of them getting hurt or worse?

'The room spins with my need, and I touch my hand to his chest to anchor myself to something solid.'

Haunted Chemistry is a quick entertaining ghost story that will have you turning the pages and wanting to find out exactly what is causing the mysterious situation.

We jump into the story with Alexis still hurting over the neglect she feels from Ian never showing up. Having their backstory made it easier, for me at least, to read this short story and still feel like there was substance to it. There was an obvious attraction between them and even with the crisis they found themselves in, it was till palpable.

Overall, Haunted Chemistry is just right if you're looking for a Paranormal Romance to breeze through in an evening.

Alexis is a college student and has been living in her building for 3 weeks. Finally out of clothes she heads down to the laundry room, which gives her the creeps and runs into Ian, last year’s lab partner and crush.
The buildings laundry room and her apartment are connected, so when she enters the room weird stuff begins to happen.
Can Alexis and Ian unravel the mystery behind the hideous ghost before it’s too late?
Haunted Chemistry has a really scary ghost, I shouldn’t had read it before bed. But it was very rushed. The only thing that really stuck with me was the ghost. If it had been longer, it would have been a really great read.

I thought this story was just ok. I know it's a novella and things move faster, but the relationship of the 2 main characters just seemed too unrealistic to me. I enjoyed the ghost story aspect, but like others have mentioned, I certainly don't understand how big these cupboards must be for fully grown adults to fit into them. It just didn't make sense to me. I enjoyed the writing style of the author, and the story was enjoyable, but it's hard to get past the unbelievability of certain aspects, and the speed with which the characters came together.

Alexis needs to do her laundry. Who knew it would be dangerous and romantic. On the good side she runs in to her old lab partner and crush, Ian Reese. Sparks fly and things look promising. As she goes down to the basement, the atmosphere changes. A storage door opens by itself and something ghostly grabs her. What is this evil? Will they all survive this stormy night? Lindsey R. Loucks has given us a ghostly novella that will give you a fright. Alexis and Ian do have chemistry. I liked their romance. Tri, her cat, has great instincts. He knows evil when he sees it. This story has plenty of action and excitement. A perfect story for this month of ghosts and goblins.

booksbysteph says "I was Offended by Probably Not Why You Think"

It has been three weeks since Alexis has moved into her new apartment. She needs to do her laundry. As she is about to enter the basement door, she runs into her lab partner from last semester's Chemistry class. Alexis is still harboring angry feelings that Ian stood her up for their first date and disappeared all summer without a word. Ian makes polite conversation but never mentions the date that never was.

In the basement laundry room, "there's a wall of storage cupboards. Each one is about three feet wide and three feet tall with padlocks hooked into the latches." Alexis throws her clothes into the washing machine when one of the cupboard doors swings open by itself. Terrified, Alexis runs out of the basement and straight into Ian's arms. He was coming back to explain to Alexis why he did not show up for their date. Alexis explains why she is scared, so Ian goes to investigate. Everything is okay.

When they return to the laundry room together, Ian stops dead in his tracks. The cupboard door was open again. The same cupboard he securely locked. they watch as a hand appears to come through the boxes that are in the cupboard. Next comes a head of blond hair. Alexis and Ian turn to run when they see the other hand come through.

I GIVE THIS BOOK: 1 Star

I really do hate giving this type of review.

This novella is completely ridiculous. The story is good but the way that it is written is unbelievable (and not in a good way).

    * WARNING: SPOILER ALERT *

I have had a small fear of basements my entire life. The main character in this book, Alexis, has never feared a basement but all of a sudden is afraid of this basement before she even enters it. I do not buy her beginning fears. Then, Alexis and Ian see a ghost coming through boxes in the cupboard and they confront it. Not only do they confront a ghost, but they do so with salt. Salt is supposed to kill ghosts. Really? You are going after a ghost armed with only salt? They do not take some time to Google other things? I understand that Alexis wanted to get her cat back. I probably would have gone straight after the ghost without salt, but come on.

I am so confused about the holes and the cupboards. Someone explain how a kitchen cupboard is supposed to be big enough to fit a person but not big enough to see a hole the size of a person. And after the two break through the basement cupboard, description goes haywire. I could not visualize the area.

Then, minutes after they kill the ghost, they have sex. There is no more mention about cuts or the bleeding coming from Alexis's head. There is no talk about dirt and sweat and cobwebs. It was like they were completely clean for their first sexual encounter. A good man would have put me in the shower to make sure the cut on my head did not need stitches...then we would probably have sex in the shower.

And I really take offense to the author having Alexis call herself the crazy cat lady. She had one cat that she had for two or three months and that makes her a crazy cat lady? That is completely offensive to people who own cats. Including me, who has rescued four cats near death. One cat has both front arms amputated - EXTREMELY RARE! That does not make me a crazy cat lady! That makes me a hero to those cats, an advocate for their lives, a dedicated animal lover and someone who has enough patience and compassion to deal with handicapped animals!

This story was just not believable. The only thing that I believe in this story is that quarters are sacred.

Until next time, live life one page at a time!

This is a short story about a ghost haunting an apartment.
Alexis and Ian find more than they bargain for in the laundry of their apartment building.  While the ghost is haunting them, they rekindle their romance.
The story flows smoothly with great dialogue and descriptions.  The characters are strong and vivid. And the plot is intriguing and entertaining with just enough spooky to give the reader chills.
This book would make a great story to read on Halloween with friends around a camp fire.
