Overview

Since ancient times, stories have abounded concerning ghost animals. From the menacing demon dogs of medieval England to present-day encounters with animal apparitions, there can be little doubt that animals, like people, live after death and pass back and forth between this world and the next. From the amazing to the amusing, the incredible to the inspirational, the horrifying to the heartwarming, this book shows that not even death can sever our bonds with our pets.

By a long-time believer in the paranormal who recounts a visit from her own late cat, Haunted Pets brings together twenty-five tales-some the stuff of legend, some eyewitness accounts-about pets who return from the other side to warn their owners of impending danger, pets who join their owners in the ghostly realm, and pets possessed. You'll be shivering as you read these stories and more:

The Ghost Cat's Final Request: A dead cat returns to his young owner and refuses to leave until certain conditions are met.

The Haunted Horses: When it comes to tales of animal hauntings, the story of Jacques L'Esperance and his two magical-but cursed-black horses is right up there with the best.

The Devil Dogs of Cedar Cliff: One of the most sinister ghost stories from the North. Carolina mountains is that of the devil dogs-huge, threatening canines reputed to haunt a remote mountain community overlooking the Tuckasegee River.
