Overview

The shadows of her past could destroy their future.

Green Pines, Book 1

Eden Green can’t remember a time she didn’t believe in monsters—her cousin was born one. Her family’s dark past casts a long shadow, making it hard to make friends and harder to commit to a lover. She lives a quiet life in small-town Clover, Tennessee, but she’s always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Tired of the city packs’ corruption, yet too alpha to be a subordinate in a sanctuary town, Jay Ancheta satisfies his need to protect by serving as Clover’s Chief of Police. As much as he’s drawn to Eden, he can’t offer forever to a woman who doesn’t know what he is—or trust himself to let her go after one taste.

When Eden’s cousin and his battered pack stagger into town, their tormentors hard on their heels, Eden is bitten in the chaos. Now Jay not only has a traumatized pack to deal with, but a newly turned wolf with enough hungry alpha power to consume them both.

With their combined strength, they can create a new sanctuary—if their passion can survive the ghosts of the Green family’s legacy.

Warning: Contains a newly turned werewolf heroine who enjoys a little rough dominance in bed and a badass alpha wolf hero who’ll fight bad guys, ghosts and even the past to protect what’s his. Be prepared for violence, death and heartbreak on the way to a happily ever after.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Rogers (2012’s Impulse) returns to familiar territory in a contemporary paranormal that doesn’t break any new ground, introducing a new group of shape-shifters fighting for their own sanctuary. Eden Green, a librarian in the small town of Clover, Tenn., has known werewolves exist ever since her younger cousin Zack was born with the ability to assume lupine form. She’s thus aware of what to expect after being bitten by one while checking up on her family’s property, Green Pines Farm, which turns out to harbor some of the shape-shifters. Fortunately, Eden has local sheriff Jay Ancheta, another werewolf, to coach her through her first change and help her become the alpha of the refugee pack now residing at the farm. Readers may enjoy Jay’s dominance in the pack and the bedroom, but are unlikely to find either of the leads compelling. (Jan.)
Library Journal
This first book in the promising “Green Pines” series from Rogers (Impulse) focuses on shape-shifting werewolves. Librarian Eden Green is bitten by a hostile werewolf and turns werewolf herself. Readers are introduced to werewolf culture as Eden is rapidly educated in her new life. Her secret love, Sheriff Jay Ancheta, also a werewolf, becomes her official guide and mentor. A massive buildup in erotic tension ensues as Jay and Eden must wait to consummate their bond. The surrounding action focuses on Eden’s cousin Zack, the leader of a broken and tortured pack. Zack, fleeing rampaging alpha wolves in Memphis, brings his pack to Green Pines Farm, his former home. The farm offers sanctuary but also contains a ghostly presence. Jay and Eden finally get together just before all hell breaks loose as the Memphis pack, bent on revenge, attacks.

Verdict A focus on domestic violence and post-traumatic stress syndrome, including suicide, makes this paranormal tale a humane statement on personal healing as well as an engaging romance.—Henry Bankhead, Los Gatos Lib., CA(c) Copyright 2013. At a time when wolves aren’t necessarily a new thing in Paranormal Romance, Moira Rogers somehow brings forth a fresh approach, making me fall in love with the werewolf all over again. ~ Under the Covers

HAUNTED SANCTUARY is the first book in a new series by writing duo, Moira Rogers. Eden Green is a sweet librarian who gets caught in a maelstrom of dangerous chaos and lethal bites. When her cousin returns to town with his pack and trouble is swiftly coming their way, Eden is bitten in the process. As a newly turned wolf, she is working hard at keeping her wolf at bay and acclimating to her newly developed skills. Clover’s Chief of Police, Jay Ancheta is there to help her and since he is an alpha wolf himself, Eden latches on to him to help her through this difficult time.

I loved this book. HAUNTED SANCTUARY took off running and never really lost its momentum throughout. Right after Eden got bitten, I found myself flying through the pages of this book, eager to learn more about the pack and how Eden fared with her new life. There’s also the case of Jay Ancheta who is absolutely delicious and made for a great hero.

At a time when wolves aren’t necessarily a new thing in Paranormal Romance, Moira Rogers somehow brings forth a fresh approach, making me fall in love with the werewolf all over again.

    Good read...

I enjoyed it. Kind of dark at times with lots of drama. Not for someone looking for a fun romance. I would definitely recommend to a freind.
