The author does a very good job of immersing the reader in the world of Haven. Page after page following the adventures of Stephen Carlisse is more like watching a good movie more than reading a book. I had trouble putting this book down and had finished it in only a few evenings. I was pleasantly surprised by the twists in the plot and the uniqueness of the story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good read. I can only hope the author continues to entertain us with continued stories and adventures from the world of Haven.

This was a great book and it had a good ending. I do wish it had a little more back story and lasted longer but still a great book.

The author has the basis for an awesome tale of survival, but not there yet. There is no way a 20 year old is taking over a group of people. There needs to be more exploring the aliens themselves. Give some further realism to the fights. Gore is there, but how would again no experience win out over monsyers?

The first half was better than the last half. The last 20 pages were painfully boring. Too much remember past events and deaths, including things from before the story started. It was all too shallow. Characters too plastic. The fighter training and battles were unbelievable ... and beyond boring. Especially silly was an injured Stephen running and catching up to a warship flying overhead. I don't know what book the 4 and 5 star reviewers read, but it definitely was not the one I read.

The book has the basic building blocks that it should have. But the author could improve the overall plot of the story a little.

This story was absolutely amazing! Great characters, the author did an exceptional job helping the reader visualize the story, and I definitely think a sequel should be in order. Thank you to the author for a great read, and i reccomend this book to any scifi fans.

Didn't know what to expect from a short story but was pleasantly surprised at the depth accomplished by this author in such a short time! Encore!

This show is called Falling Skies! As I am sure you know, seeing as how the story is pretty much the same. So, I guess there'll be no movie deal for you!

Good read

Only good thing I can say about this, is that there is a story in there somewhere. Narration is choppy. I had to keep backing up to find where the story line jumped (again!) Characters don't act in ways that are "in character". Description sounds like it was done by an eighth grader with a thesaurus.. Ending was not only lame, but way too trite and "convenient"

I was surprised with the book. It captured my attention and kept it. It leaves a good ending to continue with a series. Its a light read but interesting and enjoyable for a scifi fan.
