Havoc and Bright Lightsby Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette's seventh studio album, the spry and hopeful Havoc and Bright Lights, couldn't be more thematically different than 2008's brooding, techno-kissed Flavors of Entanglement, which dealt with the emotional fallout from the dissolution of her engagement with actor Ryan Reynolds. Produced by Guy Sigworth (Seal, Björk, Madonna) and Joe Chiccarelli (My Morning Jacket, Counting Crows), the 12 songs on Bright Lights bristle with the explosive choruses and unguarded intimacy that have become Morissette's stock in trade since her 1995 debut, but with a newfound focus on marriage and motherhood; she wed rapper Mario “MC Souleye” Treadway, and gave birth to her first child, Ever Imre, in 2010.

It might take her 3-5 years to come up with a new album but the wait is well worth it.
The amount of time for Alanis to produce a new album she never disappoints me with the finished product. Bravo!
The key to enjoying a new Alanis Morissette record is to accept that shell never record another " Jagged Little Pill". Morissette's musical prowess in subsequent releases have always been the same a singular snapshot of her current journey. " HABL " is no different heavy guitars, drum loops, dashes of electronica and middle eastern influences and signature lyrics that alienate those being trained by the current airwaves. An easy listening offering both political and personal introspection. Morissette is a wordsmith, a poet, a singer and self assigned therapist.
