    Hawk, Im Your Brother

I can say that I didn't really enjoy this book. The story was interesting how Rudy was trying desperately to learn how to fly. He even captures a hawk. But I found it dry. The pictures didn't really help make the story interesting. There wasn't any color. I also didn't like how the words were printed on the page. Byrd Baylor has been the author of many distinguished children¿s books. I would recommend this to the third grade reading level. Baylor, Byrd. Parnall, Peter. Hawk, I'm Your Brother. NY: Charles Scribner's Sons. 1976.

This is a good book for children to read.

Baylor Byrd, Hawk I am your brother, Charles Scribner¿s sons, new York 1976 Byrd Baylor was born on March 28, 1924 in Texas. She went to school in Arizona and spent time living on ranches in Texas and Mexico. She now lives in Arizona. Ms. Baylor writes with a beautifully poetic writing style. She writes about images of the Southwest and an intense connection between the land and people. Her stories are about the value of simplicity, the natural world, and the balance of life within it. Baylor stresses the importance of seeing all creatures as equally important, from the pack rats to the hawks and coyotes. She also wants the reader to recognize the continual struggle for survival of all living things. Byrd Baylor is an excellent example of a person who, through her creative stories, can touch each and every one of us and bring us closer to the earth we share. Hawk I am your brother, is about a boy who dreams of flying. He believes he s meant to fly like the hawks. He watches them and climbs to the top of a mountain and stole a baby hawk form its nest. He raised it thinking it would be come his brother and they would fly away together. However he soon cam to realize that while trying so hard to make his dream come true he was keeping his brother ( the hawk) from being happy. He knows in his heart what he has to do . The question is will he do it? Hey kids! What do you think the by will do with the hawk? Will he ever become like a hwk and fly . If the hawk his brother? You will have to read and find out.
