Overview

Freshly graduated from college and ready for a new start, Effie Jacobs leaves small town Michigan and heads to New York City to work in accounting for a major record label--the last thing she ever thought she'd be doing. She's left a world of drama behind her, eager to confront her new reality head on and make it on her own.

After getting over the initial shock of NYC and her new job, Effie's life starts to become more manageable, calmer, simpler. But all of that changes at once when HE steps into the picture, songwriter/performer/producer, Jack Teller.

He's enigmatic, gorgeous, and wealthy, the glowing product of so many years of hard work and limitless natural talent, a man so fantastic that he can have literally any woman he wants. And after a highly unexpected encounter, Jack wants Effie--and she can't understand why.

She can't believe that he could actually be serious about wanting a simple girl like her.

Effie's cautious, yet dangerously intrigued by his unremitting advances, his flourishes of passion, worried that she'll find herself in a cat-and-mouse game of steamy emotions. Jack is full of surprises, and she's not ready to give into him--or herself--so easily.

The only problem is, when they're together, it's like perfection.

Even with the challenges...

Even with the secrets...

Even with the hurt from the past...

Can Effie get past her powerful desire for independence and give herself to the one that wants her the most? Maybe what Jack offers is the exactly thing she's been looking for all along...

Excerpt from Haze:

Why is it that we resist our feelings when they become so clear to us? Giving in made me feel warm and loved, while fighting back only dropped me violently back into reality. It was like falling from a plane to the ground without a parachute, yet it was the so-called "logical" and "rational" thing to do.

I just didn't make any sense to myself.

This was the first book I couldnt finish. Effie was a shallow brat and I dont understand why Jack liked her at all. The characters were never fully developed and the dialog was corny. Any character that says "smitten" out loud without joking gets on my nerves. And a guy that wears a short red robe? No thank you. The only reason i gave this book any stars was because the plot was a decent idea, the author just never went anywhere with it. Save your money!

I tried to enjoy it, but I simply couldn't get past how corny and shallow the characters seemed to be. It had potential but eventually I skipped to the end just to ensure I finished the book.

I wish the characters would have been more developed since the book was almost 800 pages long. Needed more dramatic events to capture and peak my interest. I found myself skipping sentances and paragraphs. Ok read.

Its a pretty good story. Not great , but good. Nothing really notable in the book. Just a good story 700+ pages of so so i finished it though so it does somewhat hold your interest.

I couldnt relate to the characters. Jack wasnt appealing to me and i didnt see anything special in effie besides her name. However---this author should keep writing and has wonderful potential.

I enjoyed this book very much. The storyline held my attention and I liked the fact, the book ended without a trilogy. It was nice to read about the star guy, being a nice guy without so many demons in his past.

Loved this book. There was substance as well as good bedroom action. Glad it was over 700 pages. I dont like the short and sweet books. I couldn't put it down.....wish there was a sequel!! I will be on the lookout for more of Andrea's work.

Only reason this gets two stars is for Jack and Jesse. Otherwise? Thank God it's over. Effie is a b****. She's ungrateful, selfish, one-dimensional, sarcastic bordering rude. She's so far in her own head that I'm not sure what Jack was getting out of it besides wink wink nudge nudge. She's immature to the point that I'm not sure how she managed to leave home for NYC.
