Overview

Head Games is a revealing book about America’s concussion crisis in sports. Chris Nowinski tells his remarkable story - how a former Ivy League football player and WWE wrestler fought the NFL and turned his post-concussion syndrome into a successful crusade that has made concussions one of the most important public health issues of our time. For the first time, Nowinski tells the insider story as to how concussions went from a joke to the front page, and reveals how a small group of people outmaneuvered powerful entrenched interests to expose a problem that will never again be called a silent epidemic.
The book offers eye-opening insights and cutting-edge science on head trauma from the nation’s leading medical experts and features professional athletes who’ve suffered career ending concussions like NHL All-Star Keith Primeau and Olympic Soccer Gold Medalist Cindy Parlow Cone. Most importantly, the book provides parents, coaches, athletes and administrators with a game plan for protecting their athletes from the potentially devastating and long-term effects of concussions.

Head Games contains Quick Response Codes (QR Codes). Football players read this book

If you play football, you need to read this book. It tells you the signs and dangers of concussions. All parents allowing their children to play football should read this book in order to know what danger they are placing their children. I never knew those football hits caused permanent brain damage. This book also tells you how those hits cause demensia and alhiemerze disease in later life. This book tells you what the NFL and youth football leages don't want you to know: Hits to the head sustained during the play of football can cause brain damage, memory loss, depression, and sometimes suicide do to brain damage. Thank You Mr. Nowinski for writing such an informative book.

    A reviewer

This book tells you about the dangers of concussions in football. It tells you the symptoms of a concussion and treatment, which may save your life. I played football in the seventies and eighties and never realized how much danger I was putting myself into, as most football players don't, until I read this book. A lot of parents need to know the danger they are putting their children in by allowing them to play football, which can led to temporary or permanent brain injury. This book tells how many children are being killed by brain injuries in football and how repeated concussions can lead to permanet brain injuries such as Alzheimer's disease in later life. This book is written eloquently and is by far the most informative book that I have ever read about any subject. Chris Nowinski has done his research well. He also has interviewed many former NFL players who had to retire from the game due to brain injuries. He has also interviewed wives of former players, because their husbands brains are too scrambled from playing football to even do an interview--NFL Hall of Famer John Macky for instance. He has also interviewed many doctors who are experts in neurological sports injuries--Dr. Robert C. Cantu for instance.
