Unlike most of Madacy's Healing Garden collection, Art of Relaxation does not exclusively draw from the label's stable of studio artists. Instead, it includes a disc of new age and contemporary instrumental pieces from "name-brand" artists in addition to a second disc featuring the more workmanlike sounds of Madacy's in-house people. Naturally, disc one fares better. Though the contemporary instrumental genre has its battles with blandness, there's a reason why certain artists rise to the top ranks, as strong material from George Winston, Jim Brickman, and Michael Manring makes clear here. While there are plenty of relaxation
omantic moments compilations on the market, Art of Relaxation is as effective a budget buy as any of them.
