You know, I honestly didn't think vinegar was that interesting until I read this book. From apple cider to herbal blends, this text covers it all including detailed corespondences, histories, simple and effective healing hints, tasty recipes, insights into the famous mediterranean diet, supply outlets, beauty tips, and even vinegar Feng Shui! Pot o' Gold

The Healing Powers of Vinegar is humorous, inviting and informational. Cal Orey weaves personal anecdotes and perspectives through a body of endless research, interviews, recipes and home cures so that the book just flows. Surprisingly, the subject matter is practical and light enough to be engaging, while the writer's style involves the reader to keep him riveted. Who ever thought that a book about Vinegar could be this entertaining? ('Not to mention educational!') Culturally, the current focus on everything 'Green,' make relevant and timely the numerous discussions on the detoxing powers of vinegar. Everyone wants things fresh and nice, yet few realize the harm they may cause themselves with household cleaning products and their runoff. Orey matches much of this conversation with the personal experience of trying to keep a house clean, rid pets of fleas, and as a waitress, to keep a eating establishment free of germs. She writes about the myriad of ways she manages to do this without exposing everyone to harsh chemicals that cause health problems. Once again, this shared intimacy with the reader about the many aspects of the topic keeps the delivery from being dry. The Healing Powers of Vinegar has been revised and updated to include many more household cures and healthful cooking ideas. The recipe resource alone makes this book a must for anyone trying to improve their cooking. Here are some of the claims bolstered by testimonials and expert opinion gathered together by Orey. Many people are trying to boost their fiber--vinegar does this. Others are trying to lose weight--vinegar can be applied here as well. Still others claim to have lived many years of good health and have enjoyed the glow of vitality throughout. If you have pets, you can better care of them than you ever thought possible. The book goes on to claim and explain that vinegar's applications also include hair, skin, wound care and keeping a kitchen disposal clean and fresh. We all have one of those, right? Well, each of us should have a copy of this book as well. Allison Strong

    BABY BOOMER RESCUED

As a member of the aging baby boomer generation I've had to become much more health conscience. I ran across a few articles talking about the benefits of apple cider vinegar and decided to investigate it further. There are a number of books on the subject. Most were written as a cure all and lacked vital pieces of the puzzle. I wanted a book that took an in depth look at how I could treat the residual effects of eating processed foods for years - foods filled with processed sugar, high carbohydrate, and high fat, etc. I found this wonderful book that contains a full spectrum of information I found extremely timely and useful. I started drinking apple cider vinegar on a daily basis - the pounds and inches are melting away. I'm hooked! Moreover, I started to incorporate more of the Mediterranean foods -- fruits and veggies -- into my diet along with healthy smoothies in the morning and nutritious sandwiches at night with a splash of olive oil to keep heart-healthy. I highly recommend this book to people who want to improve their health and overall physical appearance.

    I loved this book

I loved this book. It is well written and I've learned so much about the different kinds of vinegar. Especially great is at the end of each chapter there is a summary of the chapter called 'Important Healing Hints to Remember.' Chapter 18 lists 55 home cures using vinegar and chapter 19 lists many ways to use it around your home from cleaning and detoxing, to beauty tips, pets and more. The whole book is full of research and suggestions on how you can use and benefit from the use of versatile vinegar. I can hardly wait to try some of the recipes created by famous spa chefs at the end of the book!

    wonderful information

This is Cal Oreys 2ND book on The Healing powers of Vinegar, It has a bit more detailed information and more daily uses for vinegar. I try to stay away from harsh cleaners so this book is very helpful. I see a need for everyone to have a few containers around the house and car for cleaning use with out harmful effects. It is a great read and a book for valuable information. A must have for everyone..

    New, Improved Vinegar Book Dazzles

Once again, Cal Orey, dazzles us with one of her wonderfully-crafted books on health. In The Healing Powers of Vinegar, Revised and Updated, she supplies us with loads of information, great recipes and sound advice. Written in a fun and easy style, the book is one you'll want to keep in the kitchen on the cookbook shelf and refer to often. Not only does she provide great information on using vinegar for cooking and cleaning, she gives medicinal uses as well. Need a good diet? Try the vinegar diet and find those pounds melting away. Or have some fun sampling the various vinegars available today ¿ rice vinegar, red wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar and more! I now add my own herbs and spices or colorful fruits and veggies to create spiced vinegars that are not only tasty but look great on my kitchen shelf. I'm dazzled.

    I Didn't Know That!

Wow! I didn¿t now that. After spending time reading this handy book, I¿ve learned lots about the healing powers of vinegar. I didn¿t know there were so many varieties and what they could do for you. I do remember Mom putting vinegar on our sunburns as children. It took the sting right out. I also remember her cutting up onions and cucumbers and putting it in vinegar. Yummy! Little did I know it was healthy. Besides using the recipes, I am going to try the medicinal uses of vinegar. I always believed the old remedies were the best. Why wouldn't they be good if they started back in the beginning of time? The history lesson was enlightening. I highly recommend this book to those that want to stay young and healthy. I plan on doing just that!

    A must-have book for health-conscious people

Cal Orey has done an outstanding job of illuminating a subject most people know very little, if anything, about -- how vinegar can improve health and healing. The book is organized beautifully with checklists, recipes, and menu plans. It is written with great clarity and professionalism. The research and balanced approach make it practical and inspiring. I especially appreciated the sections about how the proper use of vinegar can help your pets.
