Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Psychoanalyst Epstein became intrigued with the curative powers of mental imagery through the influence of Mme. Colette Aboukler-Muscat while in Jerusalem in 1974. Having mastered the techniques of ``waking dream therapy,'' which postulates the unity of mind and body, he espouses visual imagery, ``the thinking used for making contact with our inner subjective reality'' for curing both physical and emotional problems. Much of this book contains specific instructions for evoking the appropriate imagery to cure afflictions ranging from acne to warts, and including cancer, hemorrhoids, and scoliosis. A separate chapter focuses on imagery for promoting good health. The book includes pointers for developing successful imaging techniques and will appeal to those readers interested in alternative medical practices.-- Carol R. Glatt, Northeastern Hosp. of Philadelphia

A classic on mental imagery and its healing effects. Highly substantive
and yet very easy to read. It has many exercises for specific
conditions. By reading this book carefuly, you would also benefit by
developing an understanding of creating your own imagery exercises.

This book remains one of my favorite books for taking charge of your own health. Sprinkled throughout the 75 imagery exercises are Dr. Epstein's insights into the meaning of the illness. For example, heart problems are often connected to our love relationships , liver to anger, etc. . He also has a great chapter on how to create your own imagery - so you can become your own healer. Another great point, is that the imagery exercises are all short unlike many guided imagery scripts.

    I Also Recommend:

Very useful information and easy to do.

As a clinical hypnotherapist, I find this book so useful in creating good visualizations from a medical perspective. It is refreshing that an M.D. promotes the power within to aid in healing. The book is easy to read, and I like how the author gives specific visualizations for specific ailments/illnesses, emphasizing how easy it is in a short amount of time each day.

A must-have for anyone who is a student of the Mind-Body approach to health.

This book is a wonderful companion to the CD program by this author. Anyone who has the courage to take personal responsibility for their health and well-being, will find the simple exercises to be life altering. The short protocols are amazingly simple and fast; most are completed within a minute or two. By doing some of the mental exercises, I have surprised my medical doctor who amended his original diagnosis. The body/mind communicates through images, not only words. What I like about this book, is that it gives you an array of different maladies, and provides imagery to deal with each one. You don't have to spend a lot of time doing long drawn out visualizations to help your body heal. One minute, twice a day, is all that the protocols call for. I highly recommend anything by Dr. Epstein
