Heart disease is the largest
A book of recipes compiled by a leading chef and based on nutritional advice from a dietitian what a perfect combination to delight yourself and your dinner guests, and to promote good health simultaneously. This book contains over 100 recipes that have been designed to tempt your taste buds and keep your heart healthy.
Heart disease is the largest single cause of premature death in the Western world, yet can often be prevented by good eating habits: reducing the amount of saturated fat and salt, and increasing plant foods, in the diet. In Healthy Eating for Your Heart, chef Paul Gayler and dietitian Jacqui Lynas have used their considerable culinary skills to prove that healthy eating need not mean boring food.
The first part of the book explains what causes heart disease and how to reduce the risks. It discusses how to implement good eating habits with the least disruption, for example, how to feed a family healthy fast food. There is also advice on what foods to eat and what foods to avoid, the difference between good and bad fats and cholesterol, and why the Mediterranean and Asian diets can help to protect against heart disease. Could chocolate and wine in moderation actually be good for your heart? Healthy Eating for Your Heart contains the latest food recommendations and the best ways to incorporate them into your daily diet.
The recipes are divided into meal types - breakfasts and brunches, soups and salads, light meals and appetizers, main courses, and desserts. With over 100 recipes created specially by a chef and a dietitian for a healthy heart, this book will impress your family, friends, and doctor.
