Overview

It is 1878 and the Caldwells and Wainwrights have been feuding for decades. Still, Sarah Caldwell has misgivings when her father pressures her into distracting a ranch hand while he and her brothers rob the Wainwright place. When it becomes clear that hand is actually Cord Wainwright, Sarah realizes she needs to lay low. But Cord spots her in town and, with the sheriff away, makes a citizen's arrest, dragging her off to the Wainwright ranch until the sheriff's return. As the feud boils over, Cord and Sarah make a most inconvenient discovery--they are falling in love. Can they betray their families for love? Or will their families betray them?

Against the beautiful and wild backdrop of the Rocky Mountains comes this sweeping saga of romance, betrayal, and forgiveness from beloved author Kathleen Morgan.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
In this Western take on Romeo and Juliet, the Caldwells and the Wainwrights have been feuding for years. Sarah Caldwell is instructed to distract Cord Wainwright while her father and brother rob him. Cord has been down this road before and knows what the little minx is up to. Since the sheriff is away, he makes a citizen's arrest and brings Sarah back to the Wainwright place. There, the two discover that they are more compatible than they thought. VERDICT Believable characters and an attention to detail make this series debut from the author of the "Brides of Culdee Creek" series a sure bet for fans of Lori Wick.

This story will keep your attention throughout. The plot contains hardship, crime, revenge, humor, mystery, adventure and love. It is an excellent story about forgiveness--both of others and yourself. I highly recommend it.

Was good until the author threw their religious preference into it. I had to stop reading it.

I was surprised how each of the characters found their way to God and I enjoyed the love story between characters. I like Nick's character very much! A good read and a Christian author I would read again.

What a delightfully 'clean' story! Although in an earlier era of time, this portrays how often we must make difficult choice of the heart. Many times we have to alienate those we love for a higher purpose. One often has to decide where their true loyalties must lie. In this great story, prejudices are put aside in part, and the characters are made to see how unjust prejudice often is. Still, where love is involved, it is still difficult to sometimes know of a certainty which path to choose. The author has brought a variety of emotional situations to the forefront and it would be a great book for Book Club discussions.

Cord and Sarah's story takes us on an emotional journey that starts with a family feud and ends with the forgiveness that only the peace of God's love can give. This 253 page clean story covers just about every emotion there is and makes it hard to put down. A very good read.

A great story line with religious references throughout. It is good to read a book without all the vulgar words to skip over. I will be looking for other books by this author.
