Only three survive—and find themselves framed and disgraced. But en route to the court martial, they escape . . . and disappear.

Beautiful, brilliant, and determined, Dr. Catherine Young is on a mission to find a man who has vanished into thin air. Walking into a high-tech hideaway bearing an essential message to Tom "Mac" McEnroe, Team Leader of the betrayed Ghost Ops force, is the most dangerous thing she has ever done. The soldier she encounters is frightening and suspicious, but her senses reveal the man underneath: tough, honorable, and so breathtakingly masculine Catherine feels weak in his presence . . . But to surrender to Mac's passionate desires would put her life in dire jeopardy. Catherine has a gift that enables her to see into the heart of others—and looking into Mac's is like staring into the very heart of danger itself.

Catherine finds herself searching for the elusive 'Mac' McEnroe

Catherine finds herself searching for the elusive 'Mac' McEnroe, and lost on Mount Blue on nothing but her psychic communication with one of her dementia patients...but for the first time she felt a pull so strongly she felt she HAD to move on it, that her patients life depended on it. Now she's stranded on a mountain top, waiting for this elusive GHOST of a man to come.

When Mac rescues Catherine from where he & his team have stranded her on the mountain, he's sure she's a spy sent by the gov't...and when she begins to tell her story and he finds out she has ties to his old traitorous boss, he's positive...or is he? And why is he, who has never had a problem keeping his hands off a woman in his life, so attracted to this one? Why does he feel this connection, this pull, towards THIS tiny woman? She can't stay...

Catherine is drawn to the big, strong SAFE Mac. She feels a sense of peace around him that she's never felt before...and she doesn't see his scars, or the fact that he's not the most handsome man in the world. She just sees how gentle he is with her, how safe he makes her feel, how he treats & interacts with those he works and lives with on Mount Blue. And she wants him.

I LOVE Lisa Marie Rice's writing ~ she has a way of writing a hero that grabs you instantly by the throat and heart and won't let go. I'm always, always thrilled when she's got a new story out ~ no exceptions here! BUT I was suprised! First, I had NO idea this was set in the future! No spoilers, but let's just say they're on like the iPhone 15 in this book ; > )

It was a slow warm up between Catherine and Mac, which is a little unusual for LMR, but given what Mac has been through it totally worked for this story, and OMG, it was SO worth the wait.

I loved how they completed each other ~ and how he respected her and her mind & skills enough to let her be part of his team. I not only loved the hero and heroine in this book, but love the whole world she's building inside Mount Blue and can't wait to get another glimpse into that world.

GREAT read ~ I can't wait for the next Ghost Ops book!

    Mixed emotions

Generally liked this book but a little too much of the book was the characters thinking. Mostly repetitive thoughts. Also the ending seemed very rushed. It is as if author ran out of time or something. It was really noticable because so the rest of the story was very detailed.

If you¿re looking for a fast hitting story, filled with danger,

If you’re looking for a fast hitting story, filled with danger, hot military men and intrigue then look no further than Heart of Danger by Lisa Marie Rice. This first book in the Ghost Ops series is filled with action in and out of the bedroom. This page turner was quite entertaining for me with all the tension, action, adventure and great characters.

Boy, oh boy do I like a military man! Tough, honorable, protective - Mac would be my dream guy. That fact that his looks are less than perfect does not detract from his masculine essence and that makes a real selling point for me. In all honest, it’s then men in this series, from Mac to Patient Nine, that hold my biggest interest. Catherine has some serious book smarts but it’s her special ability of being an empath that make her very interesting. Don’t take this the wrong way but while I really like Catherine and Stella (I sense a story with her), the men are what hooked me in and kept me riveted until the very last page. That includes the villain. Something tells me we haven’t heard the last of him.

Normally, I don’t go for suspense stories. I tend to tie suspense with mystery and that just doesn’t appeal to me. However, Heart of Danger had an added hint of paranormal and sci-fi combination, which is right up my alley. Throw in strong military men and frankly I just couldn’t resist. I thoroughly enjoyed the futuristic sci-fi side. You know the timing is just off in the future but not so far out you can’t relate to it. I found Ms. Rice did an excellent job with providing the right amount of descriptions enabling me to picture what she is describing without losing me in tedious drawn out details. No skimming here. I happily read every word. The geek in my really enjoyed all the high-toys. I do need to comment on the author choice of the lab being in Palo Alto. Living just down the road, oh yes I can picture this entire story taking place in Silicon Valley.

This is the second book in the series that I have read. Unfortunately, I read them out of order. For the most part, both books work well as stand alones but since this series seems to be building to a climatic ending, I recommended read both…preferably in order.

I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.

I can not put into words how much this book sucked. Out of the hundreds of books I have read this one is in the top 3! In the past I have enjoyed all of Lisa Marie Rice's books. I've never hated a book enough to want a refund....but I want one now. Don't waste your money, or your time!

“In my mind he [Mac] was sexy as hell.” ~Under the Covers

I admit I wanted to like this book, a lot. The very beginning had all the potential for a really hot book. Big dangerous guy find damsel in distress in the middle of a storm with her car completely dead. Except he’s been hiding from the world and she knows exactly who he is and how she could find him. So of course he kidnaps her, I mean, takes her in for questioning.

See Dr. Catherine Young has a special gift. When she touches someone she can see images of their past, but she can also feel their emotions. And she was on a mission to find Mac, but we don’t find out right away how she knew about him.

Mac is the leader of a military team that was believed to blow up a research facility that was doing research to find a cure for cancer. They were setup and now have gone into deep hiding. When Catherine shows up, they can’t help but believe she’s a spy.

Mac was a strong and brooding type of hero, very alpha. He’s described as ugly, with scars everywhere, but in my mind he was sexy as hell. Catherine is a perfect combination between strong and soft. She’s got a backbone, that’s for sure. But she’s also an everyday girl. I really liked that about her.

Why just 3 stars then? The pace of the story kept losing me a bit. Although the main idea of the book was great, I couldn’t help but putting this book down. And then…confession time…I skimmed through some sex parts. *gasp* Soooooo, that’s why.

I do feel that I have this same problem with other Lisa Marie Rice books I’ve read in the past.
