Overview

Riley Hayes, the playboy of the Hayes family, is a young man who seems to have it all: money, a career he loves, and his pick of beautiful women. His father, CEO of HayesOil, passes control of the corporation to his two sons; but a stipulation is attached to Riley's portion. Concerned about Riley's lack of maturity, his father requires that Riley 'marry and stay married for one year to someone he loves'. Angered by the requirement, Riley seeks a means of bypassing his father's stipulation. Blackmailing Jack Campbell into marrying him "for love" suits Riley's purpose. There is no mention in his father's documents that the marriage had to be with a woman and Jack Campbell is the son of Riley Senior's arch rival. Win win.

Riley marries Jack and abruptly his entire world is turned inside out. Riley hadn't counted on the fact that Jack Campbell, quiet and unassuming rancher, is a force of nature in his own right.

This is a story of murder, deceit, the struggle for power, lust and love, the sprawling life of a rancher and the whirlwind existence of a playboy. But under and through it all, as Riley learns over the months, this is a tale about family and everything that that word means.

    Awesome book!

This was one of my first books like this with gay characters. Being gay myself, I really felt that the author did what I wanted. she made Dallas gay! it was a great love story mixed wuth murder and mystery.

    great read

fun. a little on the too accepting side which did make it a little hard to believe when Riley and Jack encountered people outside of their relationship. but that didn't stop me from wanting to find out what happened next.

RJ Scott really grabs on to your heart strings and keeps a firm hold on your emotions i felt the characters pain, their despodence, their intensely passionate love, their confusion in times of uncertainty and during the heartbreaking moments i felt my heart shattering as if i was a character.. this woman really truly knows how to write a book!! Im completely satisfied with this purchase $8 was well worth it!! 727 pages of absolutely positively flawless work.. i recommend this book to anyone looking for a journey of betrayals, scandels, and a love so scorching itll burn your sheets!!

    Most Untraditional of Love Stories

I have to say I enjoy reading RJ Scotts works. This one starts out with an unusual premise. Riley Hayes is stiffed by his father and has to get married and stay married for at least a year to increase his share of the family business. To spite his father, Riley agrees, but his father never said he had to get married to a woman. I’ll admit Riley is not my favorite character. Jack is my favorite. I love how in spite of how their romance begins, in the end it is very beautiful. Oh and there are a few twists and turns along the way.

everyone has a heart in heart of texas and no one is even a little bit bad

while the premise sounds encouraging, the author is too intent on making sure that everyone is encouraged to be their very best at heart, even the bad guys. it makes for the most unbelievable writing possible.
so much so, that straight guys are really gay and gay guys are actually willing to be in straight marriages, because the heart is biggest organ and these creatures are controlled by neither head.
while the few sexual scenes are fun, you can just skip most of the story. it really is just pulp as in the bad kind of pulp fiction
