Overview

She was known as Inca, a woman whose beauty was rivaled only by her legendary power—a power that had earned her a price on her head. Sworn to protect her, rugged mercenary Roan Storm Walker struggled against his all-too-human emotions. For Inca was not only a legend, she was a flesh-and-blood woman aching for love. Though Roan had long ago closed off his heart, he sought to shelter Inca with his strength. But just as powerfully as the Indian blood ran through his veins did Roan thirst for this compelling woman. And not even this warrior could win the battle against love.

Although two years have passed, Roan Storm Walker still grieves the loss of his beloved spouse Sarah. However, his grief is interrupted when he "dreams" of an amazon woman. Inca shouts at him that he is like her, a member of the healing Jaguar clan and she needs him to be at her side when the battle for life and death occurs. Not long after, Roan leaves his Montana hideaway to head to the Brazilian Rain Forest where he meets the environmentalist warrior Inca. Working together, they lead a military raid that includes Morgan and his mercenaries on an illegal drug cartel camp. Roan finds his heart regenerating under Inca's healing and love. Inca finds her soul mate in Roan's complete belief in her abilities. As their relationship becomes stronger, making both of them even more powerful, Roan and Inca must war with dangerous enemies who want them dead. The latest Morgan Mercenary tale, Heart Of The Warrior, contains all the non-stop action, adventure, exotic locale, and passion of the previous novels. Mysticism augments the exhilarating plot, but Lindsay McKenna effortlessly insures that the otherworldly elements fully flow within the story line. The lead charcaters are quite a couple, towering in size, intelligence, and guts. Their colossal love is the final touch on one of the more delectable romantic adventures of the year.

Much like the rest of Kendall McKenna's fans, I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this next book in 'The Tameness of the Wolf' series. This is one of my very favorite series as it revolves around werewolves and the Marine Corps, two things I'm pretty passionate about. I also happen to believe this author does some of the best research I've seen yet on military protocol and procedures. It's a joy to read one of these books and I fully anticipated the same with Terrell and Kai's story. Noah, Lucas, Tim, Terrell, and Dawson are visiting Camp Fallujah in Iraq. The werewolf pack leader for their sippe draws an intense physical and emotional reaction from Terrell and he claims Kai's as his sole companion for the length of his stay there. And, wow, let me just say the primitive instincts along with heat and desire between these two is off the charts. I'm fairly certain I haven't seen anything this instantaneous in any of the previous couples. Whew! The True Alpha and Dominant came to Iraq to investigate rumors that insurgents are specifically targeting the weres during combat. Unfortunately during an attack, Kai neglects to follow his True Alpha's orders and Noah disciplines him severely leaving Terrell torn between his loyalties. Once Noah passes punishment, or Atonement, on Kai, then Terrell can't keep in touch after they leave for home until the punishment period is over. A very difficult thing for two wolves who bonded as strongly as Terrell and Kai did. I enjoyed this recent installment in the series but I have to admit I didn't love it like I have the other books. I personally felt as if there was so much more story that could have been written and that I missed out on. However, that is certainly not going to prevent me from continuing to follow this series as based on the ending, I'm fairly certain I haven't seen the last of Terrell and Kai. This is another captivating book by an author who skillfully brings you into all of her stories and allows you to read, feel and sense the drama and humanity experienced by all of the protagonists. Each of McKenna's books are very special and are worth reading because when you finish the last page you are left with something precious that you will always remember. I continue to be captivated by how real her characters are. Her descriptions of the protagonists in the story as well as their surroundings are so vivid that you feel that you are part of the story plot and are able to experience and visualize each moment described in the book. What is unique about all of the books written by this author, is that with her gift of words, by sheer magic, she allows you to LIVE through the story as it unfolds and gives you, the reader, a chance to EXPERIENCE the words on each page. This author enables you to become so captivated with the plot and all of its characters that you can’t wait to turn the page. And as you turn the page, you feel like each word, each sentence, each paragraph is carefully used in order to give you a full sense of being very much a part of the story that’s unfolding. Just like a gifted musical conductor uses each instrument and musical note in a finely tuned orchestra to give the listener a musical experience that is never forgotten, Ms McKenna is able to achieve that very same thing with her gift of words. As with all of McKenna’s books, I can't put them down till I get to the last page. When I do that, I am filled with mixed emotions because there is always a happy ending and, yet, I am sad because I have reached the end of the book. Well...that's when I pick up the next one where the saga continues with some of the same characters of the original story I read. I highly recommend this author!
