As a girl, Terri L. Austin thought shed outgrow dreaming up stories and creating imaginary friends. Instead, shes made a career of it. She met her own Prince Charming and together they live in Missouri. She loves to hear from readers!

LARISSA REINHART
After seeing Paper Moon as a child, Larissa Reinhart fell in love with stories about confidence capers. QUICK SKETCH is the Cherry Tucker prequel to PORTRAIT in the mystery anthology THE HEARTACHE MOTEL. HIJACK IN ABSTRACT is the third in the Cherry Tucker Mystery Series from Henery Press, following STILL LIFE IN BRUNSWICK STEW (#2) and PORTRAIT OF A DEAD GUY (#1), a 2012 Daphne du Maurier finalist. LYNDEE WALKER
LynDee Walker grew up in the land of stifling heat and amazing food most people call Texas, and wanted to be Lois Lane from the time she could say the words "press conference." An award-winning journalist, she traded cops and deadlines for burp cloths and onesies when her oldest child was born. Writing the Headlines in Heels mysteries gives her the best of both worlds. LynDee adores her family, her readers, and enchiladas. She often works out tricky plot points while walking off the enchiladas. She lives in Richmond, Virginia, where she is working on her next novel.

I Love Terri L. Austin's "Diner" series, so I wasn't let down by her contribution. I just wished it hadn't ended. I wasn't familiar with the other two authors, and I was pleasantly surprised by LynDee Walker. So much so, that I am currently reading another one of her "Stiletto" books now. Both of these author's made this book funky, fun and quite entertaining. However, I just didn't find the same level of entertainment in Larissa Reinhart's work. It was OK, but OK doesn't make me want to buy and read more from this author. Maybe this just wan't her genre, or her writing is too off from the style of the other two, and that's why it didn't seem to mesh. I only know life is short, and I don't want to spend it reading something that doesn't engage me, give me something to think about or put a smile on my face and make me want more. Having said all that. I still recommend this book for the first and last works, definitely.

What fun! Three of the most clever and entertaining cozy mystery writers working today have teamed up to put together 3 stories, each using their signature sleuth, set in the same setting but not overlapping. The cozy reader’s dream. All three stories are set in the Heartache Motel in Memphis, TN at Christmas time. In Diners Keepers, Loser’s Weepers the crew from Diner Impossible by Terri L. Austin gets in the middle of an Elvis impersonator contest complete with dead bodies. In Quick Sketch by Larissa Reinhart, Cherry Tucker and her boyfriend Todd try to help Todd’s cousin with an illegal poker game and, of course, that’s sure to turn out well! In Dateline Memphis, Richmond Telegraph reporter Nichelle Clarke gets a lot more than she bargained for when she takes a tour of Graceland to get a souvenir for her mom. This last one is my personal favorite. I really love the Nichelle Clarke series. All three of these are fun, smart and well-written. If you are a fan of any of these authors or a fan of cozies that are just slightly on the sharper edge of cozy, I can definitely recommend this. Provided by Netgalley for an honest review.

DINERS KEEPERS, LOSERS WEEPERS by Terri L. Austin A Rose Strickland Mystery Novella (follows DINER IMPOSSIBLE) Ma, Rose and Roxy close up the diner and head to Graceland for the holiday. Axton and Stoner Joe come along for the ride. There is a mix up with their hotel reservation and they end up staying at the Heartache Motel, which wouldn’t even rate 1 star. When one of the Elvis impersonator turns up dead Rose finds herself right in the middle of the investigation. QUICK SKETCH by Larissa Reinhart A Cherry Tucker Mystery Novella (prequel to PORTRAIT OF A DEAD GUY) Cherry and her boyfriend Todd roll into town to help his cousin out of a jam and are staying at the Heartache Motel. Todd is quite the poker player and clearly his cousin is not, as he was hustled out of all his Christmas money and lost his job too. With a little help they set up a “sting” to try to win back the lost money. Cherry is hoping to use her drawing ability to sketch the players to be sure the right players get stung. DATELINE MEMPHIS by LynDee Walker A Nichelle Clarke Headline in Heels Mystery Novella (follows BURIED LEADS) Nichelle is on her way home for Christmas with just a quick stopover in Memphis to get her mom the perfect gift. But even at Graceland she makes headlines when the whole place is locked down when a treasured item goes missing. As she tries to get the scoop on the story she finds herself getting dangerously close to the thief. Dollycas’s Thoughts I thought it would be nice to finish out the year with a little Elvis. He was an icon a little before my time but my sister and mom always had his songs playing. I never got “All Shook Up” about him but his music sure has withstood the test of time. I had only read LynDee Walker’s Headline in Heels Mysteries before this collection of novellas but I can say these authors have a chart topper with this group of stories. Terri’s characters really drew me in and I can’t wait to read the whole Rose Strickland Mystery Series. Larissa’s protagonist reminds me of Sharon Pape’s Rory McCain. Those sketch artists always seem to be able to solve the mystery. After reviewing LynDee’s Front Page Fatality and Buried Leads, I was already a fan of Nichelle Clark and her wild shoe addiction. This interconnected format is a great way to introduce every cozy lover to these characters and their stories. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if at least the main characters could have run into each other :) Maybe sometime in the future. This was a perfect escape for my last book of the year!!

I’m always ready for a new cozy mystery. I got three in Heartache Motel. It was a lot of fun to see where each of these authors would go with their story centered around a seedy motel, staffed with drag queens and booked up with Elvis impersonators. The Heartache Motel is located a short distance from Graceland and it came as no surprise that each story would be overflowing with quirky, fun characters. In Diners Weepers, Losers Keepers I met Rose Strickland. When Ma, the 80-year-old proprietor of Ma’s Diner shuts down the diner for a few days to go to Graceland, Rose and her best friend Roxy, along with Ax and his stoner roommate Joe ride along to keep her out of trouble. When their hotel rooms are given away they wind up at a seedy, out-of-the-way hotel and get right in the middle of a murder investigation. Someone’s put an Elvis impersonator on ice, literally. I enjoyed getting to know Rose and her gang. I would love to see Roxy in person. Her outfits sound extreme. And Stoner Joe. You could stand him in front of something, come back later, and he’d still be there. You’d never have to worry about losing him, you’d just have to remember not to leave him behind. This was a fun, sassy introduction to the Rose Strickland Murder Mystery series. How could I not have a blast snooping and following the clues with Rose and her Scooby Doo gang as they sift through the impersonators and staff of drag queens, sniffing out the culprit. Now that I’ve met these characters, further reading is required. The series is calling my name. Quick Sketch is another romp at the Heartache Motel. Artist Cherry Tucker and her boyfriend Todd wind up at the motel when they answer his cousins call for help. He’s lost all his money gambling and thinks he’s been cheated. They put Vegas on hold and cook up a scheme to catch the con artists and maybe get Byron’s money back. It was really fun to see Man Margaret and the drag queen gals again. The motel is as seedy as ever, and the Suspicious Minds Bar is still serving up Rock -A - Hulas. I was a little doubtful of Byron’s story at first. Did he get scammed or did he just get taken to the cleaners, losing all of his savings and his Christmas bonus? What a delirious trip this was. Cherry takes no prisoners with her cutting edge wit and sarcasm. She’s having none of Todd’s shenanigans and puts all her cards on the table to call the scammers bluffs. But they might all end up in the pokey. While I really enjoyed this story, I felt like I needed to read the series to understand Cherry and Todd and their relationship better. I’ll have to pay a visit to Hula, Georgia and become better acquainted with the Cherry Tucker Mystery Series. And that brings me to Dateline Memphis. Nichelle is a hoot. She’s got brains, beauty, a smart mouth, and as long as she has her signature high heels, she’ s ready to go. And she never goes anywhere without her pooch-to-go, Darcy, her Pomeranian. Nichelle is the next to stay at the Heartache Motel. She plans on getting a good nights sleep and then a quick hop over to Graceland to get a Christmas present for her mother. She may not make it in time to open presents, as her visit ends up in a police lockdown. No one leaves until they catch whoever stole the bejeweled belt once worn by Elvis. Being a crime reporter, Nichelle offers to help with the investigation. Her skills might come in handy, and who knows, she might get the biggest scoop of her career. I could just picture Nichelle waltzing into the motel, pooch under one arm and designer luggage on the other. She’d meet her match with the drag queens. She stood six-three in her high heels and Man-Margaret stood a full head taller. I wonder who’d have the best outfits? After busting crime with Nichelle, I’m looking forward to getting to know her better while reading the Headlines in High Heels Mystery Series. I raise my Rock-A-Hula in a toast to these authors. They did a splendid job of slipping their characters into the central theme of The Heartache Motel, while keeping the returning personalities in character. Each story had some of the same characters and each writer kept with their individual voices. I’m a fan of the female protagonist and met some strong, sassy women in this collection. I also met some very endearing drag queens and I really would like to see the Elvis impersonator wearing nothing but a speedo and cowboy boots. I had a good laugh at that one. Three authors, three cozy mysteries, many captivating characters, and some fun capers to solve. A great idea. I received this book for my honest review. As always, my opinions are my own.

My Review: Heartache Motel 4 stars DINERS KEEPERS, LOSERS WEEPERS by Terri L. Austin 4 stars This was a much lighter murder mystery than Diner Impossible was. The gang decide to go to Graceland for a fast vacation. Ma closes the diner. I liked it. Rose, Roxy, Ma, Axton and Joe all drive down in same car. Things don't go as planned right away. They end up at Heartache Motel full of Elvis impersonators and drag queens. They find a body and have to solve the case before they go home. QUICK SKETCH by Larissa Reinhart 3 STARS I liked the longer novels better. This is a prequel with Cherry and Todd on their way to Las Vegas stop over to visit Todd's cousin who lost job, money in a scam and they want to help him. I had to run errands in middle so I might have been confused because of that. I was not sure who the good and bad guys were till the end. Because I know what happens in the next two books it is hard to take Todd and Cherry as a couple serious. DATELINE MEMPHIS by LynDee Walker 4 stars In Dateline Memphis Nichelie is on her way home for Christmas and she stops into Graceland and she gets locked in because something was taken. So she texts her boss about it and it goes out on the web. She investigates and keeps updating her story. I like Nichelie. She is smart and hardworking. This is the third book in the series. She really is the only character from the other books in this story. I would read more from LynDee Walker in the future. I have enjoyed reading all three stories and look forward to reading more from the authors in the future. In each story I never knew were the story was going or who the guilty party was. So the suspense was good all the way through. I have read from these authors books in the past and hope to read more from them in the future. I was given this ebook to read and asked in return to give honest review of the book by NetGalley and Henery Press. publication: December 10th 2013 by Henery Press 225 pages

Terri Austin, Larissa Reinhart and LynDee Walker have a sure fire hit on their hands. They have come together to write 1 book, with each of them delivering their own spin on it. Heartache Motel is set in Memphis very close to Graceland, with each author penning her own characters and lives into one enjoyable book. I have read books by all three authors and was pleased with how this book jumped from one to the other. In Diners Keepers, Losers Weepers we once again meet up with Ma, Roxy, Rose and Axton in a delightful romp through Memphis and Graceland. We should not be surprised that we are into twists and turns with this bunch of adorable people. I love Terri's characters and was happy to be an ARC for this book. In Quick Sketch Larissa, once again reunites us with Cherry and her friend hunky Todd, no Sullivan this time, which is probably a good thing, what with all the lovely "ladies" who inhabit  Heartache Motel.  Cherry and Todd end up in Memphis, on their way from Halo, Ga. to Las Vegas. A stop where once again, Cherry can't help not to get involved with another mystery.  Dateline Memphis, finds Nichelle and her loveable toy Pomeranian, Darcy stopping for just one night at the Heartache. Nichelle realizes that crime reporting has no bonds and is soon smack dab in the middle of a lock-down while on a quick trip to Graceland, when a belt once worn by Elvis disappears from the museum while it is packed with sightseers. How this happened, and who is involved leaves Nichelle on a mission that gets more complicated ad time goes by. I loved the premise of the book and was happy to once again meet up with old friends from each of these authors.  Each author kept up with the secondary players of the other authors in such a way that I never felt confused at all. Good job ladies, is there more like this to come in the future?

I first discovered LynDee Walker during a book tour, followed by Larissa Reinhart during yet another tour. These were two of the first authors I read from the Henery Press group.  This was quickly followed up by Susan Boyer and finally Terri L. Austin. The tag line at Henery Press is if you like one, you will probably like them all.  They aren't kidding!  Needless to say that when I saw an anthology of three of these wonderful authors, I immediately requested a copy on Netgalley. In Diners Keepers, Losers Weepers by Terri L. Austin. we catch up with Rose at Christmas time a few months following book 3, Diner Impossible. Ma, the namesake and owner of Ma's Diner, where Rose Strickland works the breakfast to lunch crowd that Ma's caters to. Ma has decided that she wants to visit Graceland and to do it this year and to see it all lit up for the holidays. After all, a woman only turns 80 a few times, right? ;) Needless to say with the crew of Rose, Roxie, Ax and Ma, there is plenty of hi jinx, laughter and adventure. For Quick Sketch by Larissa Reinhart, we actually go back in time and get the prequel and the backstory that is hinted at in Portrait of a Dead Guy.  Cherry is on a cross country road trip with her boyfriend Todd, as he is headed to Vegas to gamble in a high stakes Christmas poker tournament. They make a short stop in Memphis at the Heartache Motel to help out Todd's cousin Byron.  With Cherry involved you can be assured that there is plenty of Southern Charm and Down Home Attitude to spare. The final story in this anthology is Dateline Memphis and we catch up with Nichelle Clark on her way home for the Christmas Holidays.  This story picks up about three months after Buried Leads and Nichelle has stopped off in Memphis to visit Graceland on her drive from Virginia to Texas.  Finding an Elvis themed room that takes pets were her only basic requirements. When she gets a text from her editor asking if she is having fun yet and reminding her that crime doesn't take a holiday, she has no idea how true that statement will become. But when she turns out to be one of the few people in-the-know during an unexpected lock down during her tour of Graceland, Nichelle is quick to don her investigative hat and get to work.  Especially when this could lead to a once in a lifetime scoop. If you have been following my reviews, you already know how much I love novellas. Each of these three stories were well written and stayed true to the character, even in the condensed format.  My only single disappointment was that I kept looking and hoping for some kind of cross over where the characters got to meet or at the very least all take part in some over all grand mystery cross over.  Alas, it was not to be, but there is always hope for a future book.  There were some cross over of the characters at the Heartache Motel and it was fun to read each of the characters take on them and how they reacted. Overall this was a great book and a wonderful addition to the each of the series.  I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.
