Quick and Nice Romantic Suspense Read

To say that Jack has been having a rough year is putting it mildly. This Assistant District Attorney was engaged and his fiancée breaks the engagement, kicks him out of the house and turns around and marries her "best friend" the very next day. If that wasn't bad enough he has a murder case going to trial that has ties to organized crime and he and his witnesses have been threatened. Could things get any worse? Bonnie Humbarger Lamer presents a romantic suspense tale filled with bad luck and bad timing in HEARTS ON THE RUN.

On the night of Jack's 30th birthday, his friend and co-worker Max, sets him up on a blind date. Abby appears to be the perfect girl but she has problems of her own. She has just found out that her lover and boss was cheating on her making him her ex-lover and ex-boss. Abby's friend Stacey has decided she needs some cheering up and is pairing her up with Jack. Neither Jack nor Abby are looking for romance or love but there is a definite attraction until Abby accidentally punches Jack in the groin with a cue stick and then accidentally dumps her drink on him when he turns around a bit later. After giving Abby a ride home and sharing a hot and steamy kiss, Jack returns to his apartment only to find what appears to be a package bomb. Max steps in once again and finds a safe place for Jack at Abby's house, but this turns out to be a mistake because it puts Abby front and center in the danger.

What follows are a series of misunderstandings that put the romance on and off the front-burner over the course of a few days. Jack wants to protect Abby but can't quite seem to put his thoughts into words without hurting her feelings. Interspersed with the romantic drama and light-hearted comedy of errors, is the suspense drama of who exactly is trying to kill Jack and can they be caught before anyone else dies or is injured. HEARTS ON THE RUN was a nice and quick romantic suspense read.

    Nice Romance Read

I already knew that I liked Bonnie Lamar's writing after reading one of her books on her blog, so it was no surprise that I really enjoyed this book too. I loved how the romance was mixed in with mystery/suspense at who was trying to kill Jack before his trial on Monday. The added mystery made the story more engaging and hard to put down because I really wanted to see if they could catch the guys behind the attempted murders. I also loved Abby and how she was so insecure about whether or not Jack liked her. How she acts in this book is so relatable to girls all around the world because we all know it's impossible not to be insecure when it comes to guys. This book may have had it's predictable moments and things might have moved at bit fast at some parts, but the ending was something totally unexpected. Abby and Jack's chemistry is seriously on fire, yet sweet at the same time. Hearts on the Run was a great romance that is the perfect light read to lay out in the sun with.

    more from this reviewer

Check out this wonderful romantic read!!!

Whirlwind romance is at it's finest in "Hearts on the Run" by Bonnie Lamer! Jack, feeling sorry for himself and not feeling celebrating his birthday at all, reluctantly agrees to an outing with his friend, Max, that totally changes his world. It comes in the package of a red-haired, blue-eyed beauty by the name of Abby Bishop. She and Jack have a rather rocky start but the mutual attraction definitely glosses over any obstacles in their way, including the mystery and danger that ends up in their path. Follow their story as a weekend filled with danger and suspense culminates into a life filled with love and passion. I absolutely loved this story. I started it late in the afternoon and had it finished by 8 in the evening. I couldn't put it down! The characters are wonderfully written and their interactions with each other are very genuine. Even when there are misunderstandings, you want to pull them through. I had never read anything by this author before, but I am convinced that I would love to read more. She wrote this perfectly, right story line, right amount of emotion, right amount of humor, right amount of angst and worry, jusr right about alot of everything. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great whirlwind romance. This book was graciously provided to me by it's wonderful author for my honest review.

Don't judge this book by the cover!

I read Hearts on the Run by Bonnie Humbarger Lamer in 2 days and loved it. I literally did not want to put this book down. I came across Bonnie's ad post about looking for book reviewers and I am so glad I responded! This book was full of suspense, romance, and a little mystery intertwined. The majority of this book takes place over a period of one weekend, it's amazing how much can happen in just a few days.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Hearts on the Run is about Jack and Abby and how their worlds will collide and bring them closer together. Two complete strangers brought together by their friends. Jack and Abby find themselves helping each other and protecting one another in order to survive. Jack will quickly learn that Abby can defend herself, but Jack still feels the need to protect her.

Hearts on the Run is definitely a page turner. If you love romance, you will enjoy reading this book.
