This is based on a 3 minute experience?

Heaven is For Real is a little boy's astounding story of his trip to heaven and back. It has become a #1 New York Times bestseller and this DVD series is a conversation guide for groups and/or families. There are 5 sessions and all talk about different aspects of heaven.

I have to be honest. I have been a skeptic of this book all along and I probably shouldn't have even looked into this DVD series. It is just hard for me to accept the testimony or witness of a 4 year old boy who says he has seen heaven over what the Bible says about heaven. And he saw all of this in the time frame of 3 minutes.

The interview was pretty basic. The boy said heaven is colorful. Seriously? Are there animals in heaven? Yes and, oh the boy enjoyed playing with the lions. And everyone was nice in heaven. Okay no surprises there. The Dad who is a Pastor also shared in the DVD's and again, no surprising revelations were given, thankfully.

All in all, I don't see that anyone will learn anything new from this study. No new revelations. And should that surprise us as God Himself says that nothing shall be added or taken away from His Word.

    Read the book instead

I really wanted to like this one. Perhaps I had my hopes set too high. Previously I had read "Heaven is For Real" by Todd Burpo and loved it. It was life-changing. I passed it around to all of my friends and they all felt the same way. That's why when "Heaven is For Real - DVD conversaton kit" became available I jumped at the opportunity.

To put it mildly,I kept fast forwarding out of sheer boredom. If you've read the book, don't bother with the DVD. If you haven't read the book, read the book. The DVD was the retelling of Colton Burpo's visit to Heaven during an appendectomy and the visions he saw while there but in a much slooower way than the book. Pity.

BTW, I got my copy for free from Thomas Nelson Publishing in exchange for an honest review. All opinions belong to moi.

Heaven is for real DVD based conversation kit

I received ¿Heaven is for real: DVD based conversation kit¿ recently from booksneeze- it was good. I enjoyed it. Before I get to far and forget, though- I need to say that I received this book and DVD set for free from the Thomas Nelson booksneeze program offered to bloggers. Whatever I say is my opinion and it how I really feel. Anyway- this was alright. In theory, it was a fantastic idea. The DVD had interviews from everyone and the book went along with them. But the family was extremely fake. Like, extremely, extremely fake. The kid sounded like he had rehearsed his lines and that what he had said was fed to him by his parents before the segments were taped. The mom and dad were both just super fake, and it made me sad. The stereotypical Christian family is generally seen as hoity-toity, fake people, and this family did nothing to break that view. But in theory, it was a good idea and it sparked some interesting conversations between me and some friends. I will probably pass this DVD along to someone who will actually enjoy it more than I did, but I think it will make them happy. I give this three out of five stars.
