All Music Guide - Alex Henderson
When Belinda Carlisle pursued a solo career, she took more than her share of criticism from rock critics -- who complained that slick pop
ock collections like Belinda and Heaven on Earth lacked the bite of her work with the Go-Go's. If one were to own only one solo effort from Carlisle's MCA years, this would be the best choice.

    BC's 2nd Album Is A Hit!

I really enjoy listening to Belinda Carlisle's second solo effort "Heaven On Earth." One song on this album, written by Diane Warren ("I Get Weak") gives me the same explanatory feeling, yet I won't stop listening to it. I liken it to The Who's "Gettin' In Tune", "Bell Boy", and "The Rock." Her Cream cover, "I Feel Free" (written by Pete Brown and Jack Bruce) was probably the only blues-rock tune she ever liked to perform. Perhaps the only song that stands out heavens above is "Circle In The Sand." I believe it to be heavily influenced by The Who's "Sea And Sand" not only lyrically but also musically.
