I've been looking for a book like this one! My grandson is five

I've been looking for a book like this one! My grandson is five-years-old, and I have a granddaughter turning five months soon. He's asking all kinds of questions about God, prayer and Heaven...so this book is ideal.

The book is divided into three parts: What is Heaven Like, How Do We Get There, and How Do We Live Like Jesus Until Then? Each page is brief, and has Scripture and colorful illustrations.

Some of the words are big vocabulary for a little one, but an index is included in the back of the book. This is most definitely a book to read with your child, but isn't that the best way to read about God and Heaven?

And it looks like this is going to be a series called "The First Steps", so I'm really excited about that and can't wait to see what they come up with next!

My thanks to my friends at Tyndale Publishing for my sneak peek at this wonderful children's book. I'm getting a copy for my grandchildren...and you should too!

This book is a great resource for parents to help their children

This book is a great resource for parents to help their children (or grandchildren) better understand that Heaven is a real place. The questions are simple, and the answers are sound and easy to understand.
    Book Aesthetics:
*I recommend the hardback (even though it’s also in Kindle format) because of the charming, full-page illustrations.
*I like how the wording isn’t the usual black & white page, which young children may find boring. The font is interesting, varying in sizes, styles and colors, and the words are centered on each page.
    Book Content:
*This book is broken down into 3 sections – What is Heaven like?, How do we get there? , and How do we live like Jesus until we get there?.
*Explanations, along with Bible verses, answer these questions in a clear, concise way that even the very young can understand.
*A glossary of Bible words used is in the back of the book. This is extremely helpful for kids who are able to read to explore the meanings on their own.

This charming book would make a great gift for an enquiring child, as well as for new parents or grandparents. The perfect mixture of adorable illustrations and sound Biblical principles makes this a wonderful addition to any library—young or old.

I was very impressed with this book, which is very much like a y

I was very impressed with this book, which is very much like a young child's devotional bible/book.  It was longer than I thought it would be at over 100 pages, and it included so much!  The illustrations are colorful and charming while the setup had a beautiful simplicity.  The book includes 3 section on what Heaven is like, how we get there, and how we live like Jesus until them.  Each of those sections has numerous 2 page sections that include a full page illustration and another page that begins with a heading like "In Heaven We'll See Bible Heroes", and then a verse from the actual bible, followed by two sentences about that.  This would be a great gift for your child or someone else's!

This is a beautiful book and a helpful tool to help answers ques

This is a beautiful book and a helpful tool to help answers questions children have about heaven and God. When we talk to our children about heaven, naturally they have questions. Sometimes is can be difficult to answer their questions in a way that satisfies their interest.

This book can help parents answer some of the questions that young children have. The age range given in the description is 5 - 8 years. I think it is great for kids at the younger end of that scale, maybe 4 - 6 year olds would enjoy it the most. The rhyming stories have a nice rhythm to them and appeal to children, while the lovely pictures help to hold the attention of non-readers.

I also like the way Elkins included Bible verses thoughout the book. I think it helps children to see that the descriptions from the book come directly from the Bible and that the Bible is our source of information about heaven and Jesus.

All together, this is a great book that would appeal to many children. It would also make a great gift, so if you are looking for a book for a younger child, check this one out!

Heaven is a cute book by Stephen Elkins to teach young children

Heaven is a cute book by Stephen Elkins to teach young children about what Heaven is like and what to do to get there. It is broken down into several sections: What Is Heaven Like?, How Do We Get There?, and How Do We Live Like Jesus Until Then?. Each even numbered page tells a simple phrase about Heaven and / or Jesus. There is a Bible verse that accompanies each phrase. Then there is an eight line poem. On the odd numbered pages are a cute full page illustrations that are colorful and appealing to a child’s eye.
My two young children enjoyed me reading this to them during night time story time. It is a good way to introduce the beauty of Heaven. They enjoyed the pictures and constantly asked questions throughout. I thought the book was an excellent read for children. I enjoyed interacting with my children while reading it.
I definitely highly recommend Heaven to all who may have young children, who may have a daycare or for teachers of Bible school. A must read.
    5 stars.
