filled with action, suspense, and adventure

The 'Mistmantle Chronicles' are enjoyble and filled with action, suspense, and adventure. In Book 1, Urchin of the Riding Stars, we are introduced to Urchin, an orphaned squirrel who saves Mistmantle from the evil Captain Husk who tried to take over from good King Brushen. In Book 2, Urchin and the Heartstone, Urchin is kidnapped and taken to the island of Whitewings where he helps to overthrow the evil King Silverbirch and his sorcerer Smokewreath. In Book 3, The Heir of Mistmantle, it is a peaceful summer on the island of Mistmantle, and the animals are busy bringing in the harvest, when the Princess Catkin is kidnapped by Mistress Linty, a nurse who has a mental disorder, and a strange disease begins to spread. Rumors start floating that Lord Husk is still alive, and some animals blame Queen Cedar because she was a 'foreigner.' Meanwhile, Urchin and one friend Needle are about to join the Circle of advisors to King Crispin, and another friend, Juniper, is to become a priest. Juniper is also an orphan and overhears a deep, dark secret that will change his life forever. Will Juniper finally learn who his parents were? Is Husk really alive and causing the disease and other troubles on the island? And will Urchin and his friends be able to solve the problems facing Mistmantle and be admitted to the Circle? You will need to read the book to find out. Sometimes it made me feel happy, and other times it made me feel sad. It is a wonderful story for all ages. --Jeremy Walker, age 12

    Suspenseful and cute book

The Mistmantle Chronicles, book three was an exciting book to read. There was tons of suspense, and the book had lots of cute squirrel, otter, or mole characters in it! How cute is that?! But the cute characters have personality, too. They run into fights with other animals, get into arguments, and have there own little adventure throughout the story. Very good book!
