    amusing paranormal contemporary romance

Mark Johnson arrives in Cuttersville, Ohio to dump his eight years old stepdaughter Piper on her biological father, farmer Danny Tucker. Danny is stunned as he had no idea that he sired an offspring as the late mother Nina Schwartz of Xenia, Ohio never said a word to him. However, he believes Piper is his and welcomes the shy neglected child into his home. --- With his mother out of town and unsure what to do, Danny turns to his ex-wife Shelby, who recently married Boston (see A DATE WITH THE OTHER SIDE) for help. However, visiting wealthy heiress Amanda Delmar takes charge of shopping though she never stepped inside a Wal-Mart before. He is desperate for a baby sitter while he works the field but Piper rejects everyone including his take the hill mom everyone except Amanda and her teacup poodle Baby. Danny offers Amanda the position since she needs the work as her dad citing tough love cut her off without a penny, she accepts. As the heiress, the farmer, and the child become acquainted, they fall in love with the help of the Weeping Woman ghost, but can these three different individuals forge a family? Perhaps with ghostly matchmaking they can. --- This amusing paranormal contemporary romance contains serious undertones especially the neglect and mental abuse of a preadolescent. The strong cast including the return of the lead couple and a key ghost from the first Cuttersville novel makes the tale work with humor, sexual tension, and the patience to help Piper realize she deserves love and much more. Fans will appreciate Erin McCarthy¿s delightful pennies form heaven tale of opposites in love pushed together by a needy child and an even needier ghost. --- Harriet Klausner

    Heiress for Hire

This is the story of two daughters. The first is Amanda Delmar, a spoiled heiress whose father abruptly decides it's time for tough love and cuts her off without a cent. The second is Piper, a scared little girl who is dumped without warning on Danny Tucker's door. He had no idea the girl existed, or he would have stepped in sooner to prevent the emotional abuse she suffered. Danny needs a sitter, and Amanda needs a job. Though he has doubts that the deposed princess can really be what he needs, Danny finds that Piper and Amanda connect on a level that both 'girls' benefit from. The fact that his attraction to Amanda is becoming uncomfortable will simply have to be ignored or dealt with. ............. *** The contrasting stories and the love that infuse the story make it more than simply a comedy, but a sweet, touching novel. You will truly care about what happens to these three lost souls before it ends. ***

    CHICK LIT AT ITS WORST

Heiress for hire has about four or five pages that are funny. The rest is simply bad chick lit. And the sex scenes were painfully long, not sexy, not heart-racing, simply loooooooong.

    had some issues

I really enjoyed this book. It was extremely cute and had you turning pages. The one thing I did not like was the sex scenes. They went into WAY to much detail. Detail that was not necessary in any way.

    A really tender story¿

Amanda Delmar has been spending time in Cuttersville, Ohio for a while. All of a sudden her dad decides to cut her money supply and tells her to start facing responsibilities. When Danny Tucker discovered he has a little eight years old daughter he embraces the challenge this entitles. But soon he realizes he is way over his head and that he needs help. The problem is the only person, beside himself that his daughter feels comfortable with is the one woman that sends his hormones in overdrive. Amanda is in need of a job and she thinks she could deal with little Piper no problem and keep her libido under control. Soon things get complicated with this trio resulting in one tender, sexy, funny romance. Erin McCarthy¿s funny, sexy and tender stories are a trademark and they shine again in this story.

    Excellently written

Amanda Delmar came to Cuttersville, Ohio, purportedly the most haunted town in Ohio, for the sole purpose of irritating her father. Unfortunately for her, this plan works very well and he is irritated right into cutting her off from all access to her money. Just as she's begging Boston Macnamara, manager of her father's Cuttersville plant, to give her a job, Danny Tucker, the former husband of Boston's new wife, Shelby, arrives on the scene. With him is a dirty little urchin that he introduces as his newfound daughter, Piper. There is an unspoken attraction between Amanda and Danny, although neither would acknowledge it. Amanda is rich, spoiled, and appears to be totally oblivious as to how the real world functions. Danny is an honest, hardworking farmer who contently lives the simple life. He sees right through Amanda's spoiled, selfish facade and is fascinated by the woman he sees underneath. Piper turns out to be the unknown product of Danny's one-night stand with a girl he met at a local county fair and had never seen again. Piper's mother has died and her stepfather, who is verbally abusive, decides that he doesn't want to be bothered with her and he dumps her on Danny's doorstep. Amanda needs a job and Danny needs a babysitter, providing the perfect solution for both. This also puts the two of them together for a significant portion of each day, allowing their existing attraction to grow. It also gives Piper the opportunity to flourish and grow under Amanda's care, being treated with gentle kindness, the way all little girls should be treated. Amanda and Danny's backgrounds could not have been more different, yet they both want the same thing, a loving, life-long relationship. If only they can put their differences aside and see what everyone else does, that they are perfect for each other. This book is truly one of the most touching, emotionally satisfying books that I have ever read. Ms. McCarthy has tapped into an unending wealth of human emotion in this treasure. Danny and Amanda are so very sweet, and Piper's pain and fears are captured realistically, portrayed in a way that few authors can pull off. It is certain that you will laugh, cry, hurt and rejoice with these characters. Don't let yourself miss out on this book, it is a keeper that you should treat yourself to.

    Wonderful book.

Heiress for Hire by Erin McCarthy is a must have book. It touches you deeply, will make you laugh and sigh with pleasure. ______ Danny Tuckers quiet farmers world is thrown for a major loop when a daughter he didn¿t know he had is dropped off at his door. Piper¿s mom has died and her step dad doesn¿t want to care for her anymore. Danny had no clue that he had a child out there but the first glance at this neglected and scared girl, she is his. Danny will protect her with his life. But first Danny needs to gather some help with having an 8 yr old daughter. ______ Amanda Delmar is stuck in Cuttersville, Ohio after her father cuts off her rich girl funds. She happens to be over Shelby¿s Danny¿s ex¿s home, when Danny arrives in a panic. Amanda talks Danny into letting her help by taking them shopping and eventually the job of watching Piper while Danny works the farm. ________ These three forge the most unlikely of families. Each has problems to overcome but they all thrive when they are together. Add to this mix a penny-throwing ghost, well meaning relatives and an extremely strong attraction this book really soars. _______ Heiress for Hire is Erin McCarthy¿s most poignant book to date. It still has the witty dialogue, steamy scenes and amusing laughter that are hallmarks of her books. But this book really seems into your heart and stays with you long after you have finished the book.
