New staple in my quilting library.

Although I have been quilting for over 25 years, I am a new convert to MACHINE quilting! Harriet Hargrave's work is stunning and I was concerned that she functions easily at a level well beyond my skill set. However, I have found this book to be well outlined, easy to read and, most importantly, easy to follow. A dear friend of mine is new to quilting and I gave her this book for her birthday. She's not familiar with Harriet Hargrave and loves the book. She finds it very instructive. An extra treat is that it is spiral bound, making it physically easy to use without destroying the book. Enjoy!

    I Also Recommend:

    The Bible of Machine Quilting

Harriet Hargrave covers the whole area of machine quilting. She explores the basics of battings, basting, marking, and binding in great detail. She presents (with beautiful pictures) every method of quilting, from stitch-in-the-ditch to hanging diamonds to continuous curve to elaborate feathers and cables. I use this book and its companion (the Art of Classic Quiltmaking) constantly for reference and inspiration.

I especially like that Harriet does not just tell me how to do it her way, she tells me how to discover which of the alternatives she presents is the best method for me. Her respect for traditional methods is clear, but she carefully explains all the possible choices.

In addition, the book contains page after page of great ideas, designs to copy, and full-color photos to stimulate the creative imagination.

Several books have changed my relationship with quilting. This was one of them. Even I was able to machine quilt with confidence after working through just a few exercises in this book. Really excellent.
