Much like Cinderella, Hollie Simmons was waiting for her Prince Charming but wondering if her life was meant to be anything but a fairy tale. A kindergarten teacher, Hollie was raised to be a lady by her southern mother who passed away when Hollie was young. After a speedy remarriage by her father and more losses than she can count, Hollie is left alone in the world with only three cold, abusive stepbrothers who, along with their lowlife friend Freddy, are constantly into trouble of the worst kind and with Hollie as an easy mark.
When John McBride, a police lieutenant, saves Hollie from a nasty fall, she thinks perhaps her prince has finally come in the guise of a man she's always wanted to get to know but was too shy.
John has seen too many cop marriages fail. He's married to his job and doesn't have room or the desire to be tied down. Until Hollie. As a cop he's learned to trust his gut instinct. Perhaps he should have trusted it when told him to approach her long ago. Is he ready for the forever he sees in her eyes?
When Hollie is framed for a murder she did not commit and the key to proving her innocence seems impossible to find, will John be able to locate the shady character who committed the crime before Hollie is put behind bars? Is their love strong enough to withstand such a hardship to find their happy ending?

I love this series. The book is a great twist on the Cinderella story but with three wicked stepbrothers. The suspense was so nail biting it kept me on the edge of my seat. John McBride and Hollie Simmons were such wonderful characters and written so well that you could just feel the chemistry between them jump off the pages. I think that this might be the hottest book of the series so far. John McBride is one hot cop and I wouldn't mind being arrested by him. The book can be read as a stand alone book
I stayed up all night reading this story. I instantly empathized with Hollie, and I had been waiting for John's story. I think Cheyenne was waiting for his story to. This story flowed better than any of the others. It made me cry and smile. I cannot wait to read the next book.
In this story, Prescott PD Lt. John McBride & kindergarten teacher, Hollie Simmons bump into each other for the first time at Ricki's bakery - although they've noticed and admired each other from afar for some time now. Hollie has three good-for-nothing trouble-making step-brothers that are embarrassing and frightening. Not only are the verbally and mentally abusive, but their buddy, Freddy, is a whole new level of bad news. Not only is he terrifying, he likes to make sexual threats towards Hollie. Hollie shows up with signs of physical abuse that John concludes is courtesy of Carl, one of her step-brothers. The next day, she calls John to say Carl's dead. All evidence points to her as the killer, despite her denials. Does John follow his heart or the evidence? Can he find a way to prove her innocence?
Every girl dreams about a fairy tale and Cheyanne gives it to us. I love the whole family but don't think Prescott is a good place to visit with so many bad guys!
I have loved the whole series of the McBride family. . And this one with John and Hollie is awesome to.. I love that there's suspense along with hot romance and tenderness. .. Looking forward to seeing a story about Mike. PS-I can picture the design of the ring--won't tell what it is.... Thank you Ms McCray for another awesome book... couldn't put it down and have re-read the others to...
