From Barnes & NobleThe Barnes & Noble Review
Helen Oxenbury, artist of the bestselling We're Going on a Bear Hunt and numerous other baby books, puts youngsters in touch with their worlds in this superbly sweet, oversize board book. With gentle colors and soft lines, Oxenbury shows how rich and varied toddlers' experiences of the world can be, constantly bringing new delights as they explore different objects and their own imaginations. To illustrate her message, the author divides the book into five different themes -- touching, seeing, doing, hearing, and pretending -- with a toddler playfully following butterflies, stretching high, listening to Grandpa's watch, pretending to jump like a kangaroo, and more. Each double-page spread covers one of the themes and begins with "I", such as "I touch...," which shows "a worm," "my ball," and "Granddad's beard." All told, many things are enjoyed or imagined by this little guy, and whether big, small, far away, or close up, this toddler is always curious to discover them.
Your toddler will be inspired to discover the many things in his or her world, too, after reading Oxenbury's book. Excellent for sharing and a great method for getting tots' mental wheels turning, this "big baby book" is tender, thoughtful inspiration. Matt Warner
